Julianne Moore's daughter, Liv Freundlich, inherited her mother's beautiful red hair and taste in clothing. Liv shows interest in fashion and acting in the entertainment industry at a young age. Here's more about Liv's life as the daughter of a famous actress.
Julianne Moore is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and talented actresses of her generation, so when she started a family of her own, everyone was excited to see what her children would be like,
Moore is a proud mother to two children, a son, Caleb, and a daughter named Liv, both of whom she shares with her husband, Bart Freundlich. However, Liv has been more visible by her mother's side when in public.
As she grew older, Liv looked more and more like her mother. Their red hair stands out from the crowd, making their resemblance stronger. At a young age, Liv is also following in her mother's footsteps, making her way into acting and modeling.
WHO IS LIV FREUNDLICH?
Born on April 11, 2002, as Liv Helen Moore Freundlich, she was a dream come true for her mother, who wanted a daughter after welcoming a son, Caleb, in 1997. Moore recalled:
“I always tell my little girl that I can remember lying in the bathtub when I was pregnant, and I say, I wished and wished for a girl and got her.”
At that time, her parents, Julianne and Bart, were not yet married yet gave the best they could for both their kids. Growing up with a megastar mom, Liv was accustomed to life amongst the Hollywood elite, instigating her liking for fashion and acting.
She was only three when she appeared in "Trust the Man," a movie her father directed and mother starred in. In 2009, she appeared in "The Rebound." She also became a production assistant on "After the Wedding," working alongside her father.
"We loved having her around more than she loved being around," her father said. "The best part of it was just getting to be with each other constantly." Despite her acting credits, Julianne didn't think Liv wanted to become an actress.
In 2016, Liv and Julianne attended the Ralph Lauren fashion show alongside Jessica Alba, Rosie Huntingdon-Whitley, and Annabelle Wallis. Young as she was, Liv already had a good fashion sense and would comment on some of her mother's outfits. The "Crazy, Stupid, Love" star shared:
“She saw me before I left. She’s like, ‘I like that mama, yeah!”
Julianne was wearing a gorgeous Alexander McQueen jumpsuit then, and from the looks of it, Liv had fantastic taste in fashion. Her passion for clothing may have sparked her desire to start a modeling career at 14.
Liv modeled for J. Crew's Fall campaign in 2017 and appeared on Vogue's Instagram page. Although her mom is not an advocate for making children work, she was happy to see her daughter modeling. She said:
“It allowed Liv to have a great professional experience at the age of 14. I wanted that for her, to feel that sense of agency.”
Her mother also left her with great beauty advice, such as not touching her eyebrows. "Don't destroy your eyebrows like I did and countless other women that I know," she said. Similarly, Julianne learned new things from her daughter, who liked to keep her makeup simple and subtle. "I'm impressed by how subtle she is with her makeup," the actress added of Liv's expertise.
Unlike some parents who hesitate in supporting their daughter's modeling aspirations, Julianne wasn't worried about her daughter's pursuits because Liv always knew that the industry was an illusion for viewers; as such, the standard for beauty only exists in one's perception.
Liv does not break with the industry's pressure as she is smart enough to keep reality in check. "She is a wonderful student and a really great girl, and an interested person," L'Oreal's global ambassador said.
Liv is also a voice narrator, gaining her professional experience from her mother's children's book, "Freckleface Strawberry." Liv was 11 years old when she narrated the story in the online application of the book. According to her mom, she did an excellent job at the narration. "She's so adorable and approachable and real as the voice," Julianne said.
LIV FREUNDLICH IS THE REASON FOR HER MOTHER'S ACTIVISM
Besides her professional career, Liv is interested in activism and played a significant role in her mother's stand against gun violence. Liv's curiosity about gun violence began on December 4, 2012, when the Sandy Hook shooting occurred.
"My daughter was ten and was coming to work with me on a movie set," Julianne narrated. "I asked hair, makeup, crew, and other actors, 'Please don't mention this to her.'" However, Liv had already seen the news online, so she. asked her mother, "Mommy, did a bunch of little kids get shot today?"
Following the incident, she thought, "I'm not being a responsible parent or a responsible citizen if I don't become involved in this movement. I started speaking out on social media or when I did interviews."
Although Julianne knew she couldn't do something to stop the shootings, she decided to become an advocate of the solution instead. She has since been involved in campaigns against gun violence, including the Everytown for Gun Safety group.
Julianne is also a founding member of its Creative Council, alongside other creative professionals such as musicians, actors, writers, artists, and designers.
Meanwhile, her daughter began and is on the board of her school's Students Demand Action. "She was the person who started my activism and became an activist along with me," Liv's mother said.
On the other hand, her daughter is focusing her studies at Northwestern University. Like most Gen Z girls, Liv also has fun posting on social media, particularly on TikTok. Her video usually consists of dancing, lip syncing, and trying new TikTok trends.
WHO IS LIV FREUNDLICH’S FATHER?
Liv's dad, Bart Freundlich, was born in New York City on January 17, 1970. He is also in the entertainment industry, working behind the scenes as a director known for "After the Wedding," "Wolves," and "Californication."
He is nine years younger than Julianne, and their relationship is going strong. The pair met in 1995 on the set of "The Myth of Fingerprints." Julianne landed a lead role while Bart was directing the film. She was, at that time, going through a difficult divorce from John Gould Rubin.
It wasn't until after welcoming a son and a daughter that Julianne married Bart in 2003. Cal played a significant role as the ring bearer, while Liv, just a toddler, happily watched the ceremony. Moore shared the secret to a happy marriage:
″The only thing that I can say is, I think that you both have to really want to be married. I do feel like I’ve seen situations where things aren’t working out for people, one of the members of the couple doesn’t want to be there.″
LIV FREUNDLICH'S BROTHER, CALEB, GRADUATED AMIDST LOCKDOWN
Like Liv, Caleb grew up away from the spotlight, except for red carpet events. However, he would sometimes appear on his mom's Instagram account. In 2020. Julianne dedicated a post in honor of her eldest child's college graduation.
Julianne and Liv have a close relationship that goes beyond being mother and daughter. The young Moore considers her mother her best friend and confidante as well.
Caleb graduated from Davidson College amidst the COVID-19 lockdown. His mom could not be with him on his special day. Julianne admittedly felt heartbroken for not being with Caleb during such a milestone but could not hide her pride on social media.
LIV FREUNDLICH AND HER MOTHER ARE TWO PEAS IN A POD
Julianne is undoubtedly proud of who her daughter has become, and the apple does not fall far from the tree. "She's spectacularly poised," the actress said. "I've been bragging about Liv since she was born, and I'm so impressed by how well she navigates the world and how mature she is."
Similarly, Liv deeply admires her mother, especially Juliann's drive to succeed in life. "She always has a clear idea of what she wants to accomplish – choosing [roles] she is passionate about – and she never lets go of that," Liv said. "My mom does what she wants to do and doesn't really care what other people think."
Julianne and Liv have a close relationship beyond being mother and daughter. The young Moore considers her mother her best friend and confidante as well. "I think she has a lot of good advice about boys and relationships," Liv said. "I really go to [my mom] for advice on everything."
