A LITTLE SUPERHERO
Mars Bedell was merely three years old, but despite his tender age, he knew exactly who he was and what he wanted to be. The little boy from Webster, Texas, loved dressing up as his favorite superheroes and was a lively, cheerful soul.
Even Spiderman, the little boy's favorite superhero, was present for the heart-touching sendoff.
His mother shared that he loved anything that had to do with superheroes. From dressing up as Owlette to putting on his Spiderman, Batman, and Ironman gears, Bedell was always ready to take on the character of his most beloved superheroes.

A CONSTANT SOURCE OF JOY
In many ways, Bedell was a miracle child. He was said to be born with the condition his family thought he wouldn't survive. However, not only did he recover from it, but he also became a constant source of joy and pride for his loved ones. His mother recalled:
"[Mars] was perfect. There was nothing wrong with him at all."
THE DAY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
On July 3, 2022, little Bedell was found floating in one of the pools at the Baystone Apartments in Webster. Sadly, two days later, on July 5, the toddler took his last breath surrounded by his family and friends.
The tragic accident left Bedell's family in pieces, and they didn't know how to handle their sweet boy's loss. His mother was shattered, and she found it extremely challenging to come to terms with her little superhero's death.
A DIFFICULT DECISION
But while they struggled to accept the unspeakable and heart-wrenching tragedy that changed their lives forever, Bedell's family made a decision. They decided their sweet boy would live on forever in the lives he could save. His heartbroken mother shared:
"The only way that I could fathom to honor him to make him a superhero is to allow life to be given."
After that, Bedell was able to save four lives with the gift of organ donation. LifeGift External Relations Vice President Lauren Quinn revealed that the little Webster boy donated his heart, liver, and both his kidneys and was able to live through others.
A SPECIAL WALK
But that wasn't all. To celebrate his final moments on planet earth, Bedell's family decided to do something special. On July 7, the toddler's vibrant spirit and heroic legacy were honored in a special walk organized at the HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake.
In addition to Bedell's family and friends, the entire hospital staff joined the honor walk, dressed up as different superheroes. Even Spiderman, the little boy's favorite superhero, was present for the heart-touching sendoff.
HONORING THE LITTLE HERO
The little superhero was dressed as Spiderman, surrounded by a bunch of stuffed superhero toys. His loved ones escorted him down the hospital corridor, and one of the staff members read a heartfelt note dedicated to him.
In the small letter, the HCA team thanked Bedell and his family for their selfless decision to save precious lives through organ donation. The note also described the toddler as the sweetest boy ever who loved sports and superheroes. Further, the message said:
"May the impact that Mars leaves behind be a constant reminder of love and hope. It is because of Mars and his family we are gathered here today and able to offer hope and life to others."
ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS
As Bedell was sent to the operating room, his mother and other loved ones had an emotional breakdown. It was a tear-jerking sight, and everyone present on the hero walk had nothing but love, pride, and gratitude for Bedell.
The little boy's mother revealed that she never anticipated that he would become a superhero the way he did. However, she said he would be proud to know he saved four lives. Even Spiderman would be proud of this little angel.
Indeed, Bedell's heroic legacy would forever stay alive and be cherished by everyone who knew him. He touched many lives and proved he was a real superhero in every way possible.
In his mother's words, Bedell was a little superhero, and nothing would ever change that. Please share this story with your loved ones so that this little boy receives the recognition and love he rightly deserved. Shine on in the heavens, little Mars!
