Matewa Kiritapu: Taika Waititi's Daughter Appears in 'Thor: Love and Thunder'
Matewa Kiritapu is the daughter of actor, comedian, and filmmaker Taika Waititi. The youngster seems to follow in her father's footsteps and appeared in one of Hollywood's most famous films.
Matewa Kiritapu may be the daughter of one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, but the 6-year-old seems to be becoming a star in her own right.
She has appeared in a small role in the film "Thor: Love and Thunder" portraying Asgardian Kid. The youngster featuring in the movie is no surprise since the film has an abundance of young actors.
Another apparent reason Matewa made it on the list of cast members for Marvel Studios' latest installment from the "Thor" franchise is that the film is directed and co-written by her father, Taika Waititi. Find out more interesting facts about this upcoming actress.
MATEWA KIRITAPU WAS BORN TO A CREATIVE FAMILY
Matewa Kiritaput was born on August 21, 2015, to a creative family that's also in the entertainment industry.
Matewa has a loving father who gushes over his lovely daughter every chance he gets. Her father, Taika Waititi, shared a touching post in 2021 to congratulate his daughter on her birthday.
The caption, which was alongside a series of photos of Matewa as a toddler and other cute pictures of her, said:
"Happy Birthday, Matewa, my love, and baby doppelganger. Now you are six. Wowee. May your rampage through life continue and god help anyone who stands in your way."
Like most children, Matewa has an ordinary childhood and likes to play and draw. However, the fact that she has parents in the entertainment industry gave her one advantage.
The 6-year-old has been on film sets from an early age because of her parents, who are film directors.
The young actor is also more traveled than most people as she travels a lot with her parents on tours or shoots.
She's adored by her parents, which is evident by their habit of always taking pictures of her – which sometimes annoys her.
Matewa does a lot of fun stuff with both her parents, and she especially enjoys visiting galleries with her mother, who she lives with in New Zealand.
In a post her mother Chelsea shared on Matewa's big sister's birthday, Chelsea said Matewa's sister should shine bright like her little sister. She also referred to the time Matewa said people are made from the same material as stars which she took from a book she read.
MATEWA KIRITAPU'S PARENTS DIVORCED
Matewa Kiritapu's parents are Taika Waititi and Chelsea Winstanley, and they are both filmmakers. Taika's also a photographer and painter, and Chelsea is also a producer. Matewa has an older sister named Te Hinekāhu, who's three years older than her.
Taika and Chelsea divorced after being married for six years. News of the pair's split only surfaced in 2020, but they reportedly went their separate ways in 2018. Matewa's father has since moved on and is now dating British singer Rita Ora.
Despite Matewa's parents going their separate ways, the 6-year-old still spends quality time with her mom and dad. In fact, the doting dad even allows his little one to make edits to his appearance.
