Rich Girl Mocks Janitor, Father Takes Everything from Her and Gives Her a Janitor’s Uniform – Story of the Day
A young woman's wealthy father decides to give her a painful lesson about respect after she mocked a hardworking janitor on the street. The following day, she sees a janitor's uniform waiting for her inside her car.
Claire never worked a day in her life, all because her dad owned a multi-million dollar company that easily supported her needs. Everything she had was given to her by her father, and although he'd asked her multiple times to work in their family business, she would always delay her employment.
At 25, Claire did nothing but shop, travel, and party. She had a platinum card connected to her dad's account to use whenever she pleased, which had no limit.

Ever since she was a child, Claire knew about her high social status. She only affiliated herself with wealthy people and went to the most exclusive schools in New York alongside other children of billionaires.
One day, while walking along the street towards her car, she carelessly threw an ice cream wrapper on the ground upon seeing a janitor sweeping. The janitor looked up in disbelief, pointing to the nearby trash bin.
"There's a trash bin right there," he told her. "You could have just dropped it on your way."

Claire was outraged that the janitor dared to talk to her. She looked at him in disgust, telling him how pathetic he was. "Well, what are you there for? Aren't you a janitor anyway? My wrapper belonged on the floor. Pick it up; that's your job. How dare you talk to me," she scoffed.
The janitor looked like he was about to cry. He quickly felt bad about himself as he watched cruel Claire entering her luxury car.
Little did Claire know her personal driver Daniel saw the whole thing. Daniel had watched Claire grow up and was sad to see what once was a young, sweet child grow up to be a selfish and arrogant spoiled brat.

Daniel loved Claire like his own daughter and hated seeing her that way. He approached Claire's dad, Peter, that same day.
"I overheard Claire belittle a janitor on the road today, and the janitor looked heartbroken. I couldn't tell her off myself because I knew she wouldn't listen to me," he told his boss.
Daniel was close to Peter because Daniel was the very first person Peter hired when his business was just starting out. Eventually, Daniel became more than just their driver, as Peter trusted him like a personal aide and would listen to his advice and opinions.
Peter was not like other snobby wealthy business owners. He was down-to-earth and valued all of his staff, including those who worked blue-collar jobs. He was disappointed that his daughter had no compassion for workers and decided it was time to teach her a lesson.

The following day, Daniel drove Claire to her favorite luxury boutique. While she was paying for her items, the cashier told her that her card had been declined.
"What?!" Claire shrieked. "That's not possible! My card has no credit limit. Try it again!" she told the woman.
The woman tried another time, this time showing Claire what the terminal said. Her card had been declined.
Claire quickly called her dad and asked him to sort it out. "I'm not sorting anything out without teaching you a lesson, Claire," her father told her.
"What do you mean?! What did I do?" she asked, surprised.

"There's a package waiting for you inside the car. Once you see it, you'll know what I'm talking about," Peter replied before hanging up the phone.
Embarrassed, Claire told the cashier that her dad had cut off her card. She assured her she would come back for the items another time and slowly made her way to the exit.
"Ugh!" she yelled. "That was so embarrassing!"
Daniel watched as Claire stomped her way towards the car, entered, and slammed the door.

"What is it that my dad wants me to learn? Where's the package he's talking about?" she said, still furious.
Daniel handed her a box, and she opened it. There was a janitor's uniform and a note inside, which read:
"
Claire closed her eyes and reflected on what had just happened. She slowly started to accept that without her dad's wealth, she had absolutely nothing, yet she was so arrogant about being rich.

Accepting her fate, she asked Daniel to drop her off in front of her dad's office building and put on the uniform. She began to clean the street and realized how difficult it was to be a janitor.
After a couple of days, Claire decided to find the janitor she had insulted to apologize. "I'm sorry for disrespecting you the other day. I realized how arrogant I'd been all these years, and I'm working towards being a better person. I hope you can forgive me," she told him.
What can we learn from this story?
- Always be grateful for what you have. Claire took her father's wealth for granted, thinking it would always be there, accessible to her. Her dad decided to teach her a lesson about being grateful by taking away her credit card and forcing her to work.
- People deserve to be respected, regardless of their status in life. Claire disrespected the janitor on the street, thinking she was way above him. She didn't realize then that all people deserved to be respected and treated equally regardless of their status in life. Her dad made sure she realized this by making her work as a janitor for their company.
