Luis Ruelas’ First Wife Was Often on Bad Terms with Him - Details of Their Marriage
Luis Ruelas married "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice but was previously married to his first wife, Marisa DiMartino. Their tumultuous relationship resulted in her calling the police multiple times during their divorce and child custody process.
At a glamorous wedding surrounded by family and friends, "Real Housewives of New Jersey" star Teresa Giudice said "I do" to Luis Ruelas. In a crowd of 220 guests, including Teresa's four daughters, Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana, and Luis's two sons.
The couple tied the knot at the Park Chateau Estate and Gardens in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and in true New Jersey style, Teresa wowed in a baby-pink mermaid wedding dress and a diamond tiara that held her veil.
She walked down the ail to marry the man of her dreams to 'Ave Maria' in honor of her late grandparents. The outdoor wedding was filmed for a Bravo special, the groom dazzling in a classic white blazer and black pants. However, the joyous ceremony was not Luis's first marriage.
WHEN DID LUIS AND MARISA'S MARRIAGE END?
There is not a lot of information about the personal or professional life of Marisa DiMartino. In an interview, she revealed that she and Luis were young when they first met. They fell in love and moved in together in Blauvelt, New York, a section of Orangeburg, and had a family. But things began to fall apart over time.
Luis had over 25 years of experience in marketing and numerous business endeavors; he began his business career at the age of 19 before co-founding a company called Digital Media Solutions, a digital marketing solutions company where he held the portion of Executive Vice President of Business Development.
He has since spent his career "taking on new challenges and launching new businesses." The ex-couple had two sons; the eldest, David, and a second son, Nicholas, who was diagnosed with autism. Luis and Marisa parted ways in 2010 but only had their divorce finalized in 2012, according to public records.
In 2021, a video surfaced on the internet, showing Luis surrounded by a group of males he called his brothers as he appeared to be apologizing to Marisa.
It is unclear when the video was filmed, but a sincere Luis can be seen promising to return home to Marisa, propose to her and finally get married, restore their family and live a life together. He declared his love for Marisa before appearing to be choked up.
"Real Housewives" fans were not impressed with the gesture and worried for Marisa, finding the video "honestly terrifying" and calling Luis a "psychopath."
DID MARISA CALL THE POLICE ON LUIS?
Marisa and Luis had a complicated divorce process and a post-divorce relationship. They had a rocky child custody process that lasted years, and records from the Orangeburg Police Department stated that they were involved in multiple domestic violence calls to Marisa's home.
According to reports, Marisa never pressed charges in all the incidents involving her estranged husband, and Luis was never arrested. In one incident in 2012, Marisa told police that Luis had pushed her.
After dropping off their sons, the exes got into a heated verbal argument about finances. In the presence of their son, Luis allegedly pushed Marisa. The report was filed on October 5, 2012, and Marisa rejected medical help and did not press charges for the alleged assault.
The mother of two reported that when Luis was dropping off their boys, he sped off with one of their sons, claiming he wanted to live with Luis and not his mother. She accused Luis of harassment and unwanted contact.
On New Year's Eve in 2010, before they became legally divorced, Marisa filed a police report saying she and Luis got into a "verbal dispute" after he came to her home, which led to her leaving the residence.
Things did not improve from there as they separated and began co-parenting. Marisa filed multiple police reports; in one, she claimed Luis "shouted names" at her in the presence of their children during a custody exchange on June 6, 2016.
On June 7, 2016, another report said Luis violated their custody arrangement when he picked their son up from school without telling her; he then proceeded to ignore her calls.
She told police she wanted to document the issue and follow up with family court; she was also advised to schedule custody exchanges at police stations to avoid future conflict.
Marisa reported to the police that Luis came to pick up their children and wanted to speak to her, but she refused. He began to bang on the door until she finally opened it. She said he scared their son and left before the police arrived.
In the report, Marisa checked "yes" of whether his physical violence had increased in frequency and severity over the years, whether Luis had been violently and constantly jealous of her and whether he had threatened her or their children.

"We’re very good with each other, and that's basically it. He takes care of me and my children, and that’s what it comes down to."
