Wendy Williams Embraces Her Body & Wears Daisy Dukes as Effects of Illness Show — Fans Defended Her Looks
Reality TV show host Wendy Williams knows about being in the public eye all too well. Over the years, she has suffered many health struggles, and her fans know exactly what she has been through.
In 2018, Williams took a hiatus from hosting her show, "The Wendy Williams Show," after suffering extreme Graves disease symptoms, which she had been suffering for almost two decades.
It was in October 2018 that Williams fainted on the Halloween edition of her show. She was dressed as the Statue of Liberty and said she fainted simply because she was too hot in the costume.

Williams did not believe that her symptoms could be attributed to Graves disease as the symptoms can be easily mistaken for menopause. She then admitted that she didn't know how she closed the Halloween edition of her show after the commercial break as she was feeling so ill.
Many fans were confused by the show host passing out on her show, and there was much speculation as to what happened to her. It was only later that she cleared up all the rumors swirling.

The show host defended herself against fans commenting on how she looked and the fact that she had been seen using a wheelchair. She said:
“I have Lymphedema. I've had it now for a few years. Well if you see me in an airport, you'll be like is that Wendy in a wheelchair? Yup. I can't even walk two city blocks.”
Although her hiatus in 2018 lasted three weeks, she took another break from her show in 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She shared that after her 2018 incident, she understood that she needed to put her health first.
FANS DEFENDED WILLIAMS AGAINST INTERNET ATTACKS
While Williams has taken the time to take care of her health, many people don't understand her disease's toll on her body. People announced on August 10, 2022, that Williams teased a return to her show, but many Twitter users focused more on the photograph used.
In the image, Williams can be seen walking around in Daisy Dukes with a broad smile as she holds an emerald green handbag. However, some Twitter users could focus only on the negative aspects of the photograph.
The nature of Williams' disease is that it caused her body to swell and become numb in some places. Now that she has taken care of her health so well, her body is no longer swollen, resulting in some loose skin.
This loose skin is what many Twitter users were focusing on. One user asked if the loose skin was hair on her legs, while another zoomed in to the photograph and made fun of Williams because of how her skin appeared.
Although there were users who were pessimistic about the photograph, there were others who fiercely defended Williams against these attacks. These users thought it was shameful of other users to comment on the negative aspects of the photograph.
One user mentioned that her legs indicated that her health was improving, and that was all anyone need be concerned about. Another user said the photo should have been cropped to show Williams' smile instead.
Fans of her show mentioned that they were not at all concerned about the appearance of her legs and simply prayed that she had a speedy recovery and could return to her show sooner rather than later.
Some users said Williams was getting older, and on top of her swelling going down, she was losing elasticity in her skin, which meant it couldn't bounce back as fast. These users also defended Williams' right to recovery in peace.
Amid all of the comments and jabs at Williams, her fans came out in full force to let those who were attacking her appearance know that she was doing her best to fight a battle with a disease that she could not cure.
Although the image has garnered much attention since it was posted, Williams has made no comment on the post. However, fans are hopeful that she will be well enough to return to the show shortly, as the post indicated.
WILLIAMS HAS PLANS FOR THE FUTURE
Williams took a break from her show in 2020 because one of the symptoms of her disease is fatigue. The show host was experiencing fatigue in a way that she wasn't able to handle and decided taking a break was the only solution.
When she went off the air in 2020, amid filming under strict social distancing protocols, a statement said she would be back soon. However, in 2022, this had still not happened, and fans were concerned about Williams.
Although she has taken an almost two-year-long break from the spotlight, she recently shared that while she wouldn't be returning to "The Wendy Williams Show," she would be premiering something new soon.
All those fans of Williams patiently awaiting the day they would hear her cheerful voice again are in luck as she has announced that she will be hosting a podcast called "The Wendy Experience."
On top of the fact that Williams has finally returned to the spotlight and has been at a better place in her health journey, she has also recently found love. She announced this on a podcast hosted by Jason Lee in early August 2022.
On the podcast, she claimed that she was married to the mystery man, but a rep for Williams later cleared this up by saying:
“That’s inaccurate. She is excited about a new relationship and probably got carried away in conversation.”
Williams confessed that she was in a relationship with a police officer for the NYPD, whose name is Henry. However, Williams has chosen not to disclose any other details about her new beau at this stage.
