Goldie Hawn Dated TV Husband Who Was 'Crazy' about Her – Kurt Russell Was 'Rude as Hell' to Him Afterward

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are one of Hollywood's favorite couples. However, before their decades-long relationship began, Hawn was in a relationship with her co-star from "Best Friends."

Hawn starred alongside Burt Reynolds in the movie "Best Friends" in 1982. The pair enjoyed their time together in the film, where they played husband and wife, and eventually, their relationship turned into something more.

While they played a married couple in the movie, the pair also began a romantic relationship off-screen. However, at the time, Reynolds was a womanizer, and Hawn became another notch in his belt.

Talking about those times in his life, Reynolds admitted that he was not proud of his behavior. He confessed:

"I jumped from one to the other, and I certainly could have handled those situations­ better."

Reynolds said he was "crazy about" Hawn and loved working with her because she was professional and witty. Hawn also said she loved working with Reynolds and wasn't afraid to tell people he was a lovely man.

After Reynolds passed away, Hawn even took to her Instagram to share photos of them and express how much she loved their time together. Her daughter, Kate Hudson, also shared a photo of Reynolds and her mother with her as a toddler. The caption was a simple broken heart.

Hawn and Russel Celebrate Anniversaries despite Not Being Married

Russel and Hawn began their relationship in 1983. At the time, Hawn had two children, Kate, and Oliver Hudson. Hawn welcomed Kate and Oliver with her ex-husband, Bill Hudson. Hawn and Russel made their relationship official on Valentine's Day.

While the couple began their relationship in the early eighties, they first met almost a decade before they started dating. They met on the set of 1968's "The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band."

Back then, Hawn was 21, and Russel was only 16. Hawn recalled meeting him at the time and immediately being taken with him. She admitted:

"I thought he was adorable, but he was much too young."

The couple has been together for forty years, but they have still not tied the knot. Hawn and Russel celebrate their dating anniversary each year but have never had a desire to be husband and wife.

Hawn once spoke about why she and Russel had decided to remain unmarried their entire relationship. She said that she did not want to feel bound to Russel and that if they had been married, she would have been divorced long ago.

She also mentioned that she and Russel chose to be with each other all this time and weren't with one another because they were married and forced to be together. She admitted they enjoyed having the choice.

Although Hawn and Russel have been together for ages and even share a son, Wyatt Russel, Hawn did not always have an easy time juggling her love for Russel and Reynolds at the beginning.

Although Hawn and Reynolds' relationship didn't work out, Hawn still had a love for Reynolds and would tell Russel what a nice guy he was. This did not sit well with Russel, who was "rude as hell" to Reynolds.

Reynolds said that he could sense that Russel was not crazy about him and knew that it was because Hawn still spoke highly of him even though he was an ex-boyfriend of hers. However, the situation blew over eventually.

Russel Became the Father Oliver and Kate Never Had

Hawn and Bill Hudson ended their relationship when their children were still very young. Bill Hudson decided to leave his family, which hurt all of them, leaving them with lasting wounds they would carry into adulthood.

However, when Hawn met Russel, their lives changed as Russel stepped in as their father figure despite having his own children and Oliver and Kate not being his biological children.

Kate and Oliver have often expressed their love and appreciation for Russel on their social media pages and treat him like their own father. Their own father, unfortunately, does not get the same treatment.

On Father's Day in 2015, Oliver took to his Instagram page to share a photo of himself and his sister with their father. The post was captioned "Happy Abandonment Day." This was the final straw in what was an already volatile relationship.

Bill Hudson had accused Hawn of poisoning their children against him many times and said that she was the reason he and his children had no relationship. He said when Russel came on the scene, Hawn turned against him.

However, Kate and Oliver have admitted that it is because of their father that they do not have a relationship with him. They have said that it was not their mother or Russel's fault that their relationship with their father soured.

On the same day Oliver posted the jab at Hudson, Kate took to her Instagram to share a photo of herself and Russel, who Oliver and Kate call "Pa," to thank him for being their father figure.

This, coupled with many years of distance and a turbulent relationship between Hudson and his children, led to Hudson making a statement about the entire saga. He said:

"I had five birth children, but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own."

He even mentioned that he would like Oliver and Kate to stop using the Hudson name as he considered them dead to him. He went on to say that he was mourning their loss even though they hadn't died.

Aside from each other and their siblings from Hudson's side, Kate and Oliver are the older siblings of Hawn and Russel's son, Wyatt. However, Hawn and Russel still do not want to tie the knot even with children galore.

Hawn has often been seen wearing a ring in public during her relationship with Russel. Each time this happens, fans get excited. Yet Hawn and Russel shut down marriage rumors each and every time.

Hawn and Russel now enjoy their lives with all of their children and all the grandchildren that their children have welcomed into the world. They are happier than ever, but still have no plans to walk down the aisle.
