Giselle had always considered herself a lucky woman. She was engaged to the man of her dreams, they had a small cozy house in a lovely neighborhood, and soon, she was about to give her fiancé, David, the best gift of his life!

Just looking at those two lines on the pregnancy test made Giselle feel like she was on top of the world. She would soon have a baby home—her and David's child!

"I'm sure he'll love the surprise!" she thought as she carefully wrapped a pair of baby socks and the test results in a lovely pink box.

That night, after David opened the box, Giselle felt like her heart would jump out of her chest. She couldn't wait to hug him and tell him he was going to become a daddy. But David…he was far from happy.

"What is this nonsense?" he exclaimed angrily, and her smile vanished.

"We're gonna be parents, honey. Aren't you happy?" she asked, dejected.

"Do you think you can just abandon us whenever you want and stage this emotional melodrama to reclaim us? We have the best parents, so you can leave."

"Happy, my foot! You're terminating the pregnancy!" he declared.

"What? David, but…"

"I am not ready to become a father, Giselle! It's up to you to decide whether you want to save this marriage or not!" He tossed the box on the floor and walked away.

Giselle was shredded into pieces. She thought it over, but her heart wouldn't allow her to terminate the pregnancy. Eventually, she and David parted ways. But that was only the advent of many struggles in Giselle's life.

She didn't have a degree, job, or even enough savings to sustain her life. She began living in a cheap motel, hoping to find work and get her life back on track. But things only got worse, to the point that she regretted saving the pregnancy.

"Triplets? Are you sure, doc?" she asked helplessly.

The doctor nodded, and Giselle felt her world crashing down on her. It was too late to terminate the pregnancy, and in the end, she gave birth to three beautiful baby girls.

Only Giselle knew how terrible she felt holding them in her arms. It crushed her heart to think she wouldn't be there to witness their laughter or tears. She'd never get to change their poopy diapers or croon lullabies to them. Because soon after giving birth to the triplets, Giselle decided she would abandon them at a random family's door.

"I hope you forgive your mother for this! I'm sorry!"

Giselle's tears knew no bounds as she walked away. But she promised herself that she would return for her children one day, once she got back on her feet. She would apologize for what she had done.

Soon after, Giselle began working as a janitor. The pay was awful, and her boss was a total jerk, but she put up with it, all for the sake of her children. Since she was an orphan and her so-called friends had turned their backs on her, she was left alone to fend for herself.

But Giselle didn't give up. She enrolled in a community college to complete the education she'd left half-finished to focus on her life with David, and though it took several difficult years, she did.

After achieving a good life, all Giselle wanted was to get back to her children. She wanted to hug them, cry her heart out, and hold them close. But it seemed like fate had other plans.

"Are you serious, Mr. Benson? A transfer? I can't accept this!"

"If I were you, I would pack my bags and look for the next flight," her boss said. "I can't help you coz this decision was directed to me by the board members."

Unexpectedly, Giselle was asked to relocate to another town. She didn't have a choice and had to move. And from there, it was all a mess. The workload got crazy, and before she knew it, several years had passed.

One day, Giselle returned to her hometown. She took the flight a day before her kids' 18th birthday and decided to meet them finally. Her heart ached at the thought that they would despise her for what she had done, but she was a mother, and no matter what happens, moms never give up on their children.

On their 18th birthday, as Giselle stood outside the door where she'd left her children, her heart was beating fast. Finally, a couple of minutes later, a woman answered the door, and Giselle recognized her.

"Hi, Cynthia. I'm Giselle. I hope you remember me. Can I please come in?" she asked, and Cynthia's face was pale.

"If I'm not mistaken..."

Giselle nodded. "I suppose you got my letter...I've come to see my children. May I?"

Cynthia wished she could turn Giselle away, but she couldn't. She brought her in, and it was then Giselle saw her triplets for the first time. Their birthday preparations were in full swing, complete with a birthday banner with their names—Kathy, Riley, and Cassandra.

"My girls!" She burst into tears as she saw them. "Oh, how I missed you! It took me 18 long years to finally meet you. Happy birthday, sweethearts!" she exclaimed.

"Is this some kind of joke?" Cassandra screamed at her, and Giselle's smile faded. "Do you think you can just abandon us whenever you want and stage this emotional melodrama to reclaim us? We have the best parents, so you can leave."

"Honey, no," said Giselle. "I - I didn't want to…."

"We've already read that stupid letter you left us! You abandoned us because you couldn't care for us. End of the story!" said Kathy.

"No, please, listen to me! That's not all! There's much more to it," begged Giselle, but the children just wouldn't listen.

At last, Cynthia and her husband, Adam, persuaded the kids to give Giselle a chance. After all, they were blessed with children because of her. Those girls were a ray of light for Cynthia and Adam in their dark world of failed fertility treatments.

Giselle sat down with the kids and told them everything. "Your dad had dumped me. I saw Cynthia and Adam at the maternity hospital for the first time. I learned they were infertile. I followed them and left you with them. Look, I'm not here to separate you from your parents, who have given you the best life possible. I'm sure they did their best.

"But I hoped to one day stand boldly in front of my girls rather than as someone weak. I wanted to prove to you that your mother was not a coward... I'm not going to force you to accept me, but I just want to let you know that I've always loved you and will continue to do so!"

"Forgive…" Riley said quietly. "I think I forgive you. But I don't want to leave mom and dad ever. They'll always come first for me. I'm sorry…."

With tears in her eyes, Giselle hugged Riley. "I have no problem with that, honey. Can we be friends, though? I hope I can be a good friend."

Riley nodded and hugged her back. Eventually, Cassandra and Kathy's hearts melted, and they joined Riley and Giselle.

"It's fine. I guess we can be friends!" Kathy said, and Giselle had the biggest smile on her face. "Anything for you girls. Oh, I am so happy today…" she continued, hugging her daughters tightly.

From then on, Giselle visits Cynthia and Adam regularly, and the girls have accepted Giselle as a close friend. They still have a long way to go in terms of comprehending the mother-daughter bond, but Giselle knows her daughters don't hate her, and that's enough for her.
