The U.S. president was met with loud boos multiple times throughout the event. The first came when he appeared on the stadium's video boards during the playing of the national anthem.

Unlike previous games, where the anthem had been played well in advance of kick-off, this time it took place moments before the match began, specifically aligned with the president's attendance.

As the cameras showed him standing for the anthem, the crowd responded with boos that lasted several seconds. The booing resumed later in the night when Donald returned to the field alongside FIFA president Gianni Infantino to present the competition's trophy, individual awards, and runners-up medals.
