Kenny Rogers Called Having Twins at 65 with 'Rare' Wife 'Wonderful Experience' — One Son Was Praised for New Job
Initially, Kenny Rogers and his wife, Wanda Miller, decided not to have children but ended up with twins that the musician was thrilled to welcome at 65. Now one of the star's children, with his "rare" and "unique" wife, works a regular job which he was praised for by his father's fans.
Wanda Miller and late country musician Kenny Rogers initially unexpectedly met in Atlanta. The star was on a blind date with someone else but ended up smitten with Miller, who worked at the restaurant.
Later, the singer called the restaurant they'd dined at and asked about Miller. The star's future wife, then 26, called Kenny back after her coworkers convinced her they weren't playing a practical joke.

By June 1, 1997, the former waitress married the famous country music singer. On August 21, 2022, Kenny's fifth and final wife took to her Instagram account to celebrate his birthday without him, writing:
"Happy Birthday Kenny ..we miss you every day… we are grateful for all the memories that carry us on."
According to a 2006's Independent.ie article, the singer had initially told Miller he didn't want any more children before they married, and she shared the same sentiments. He wasn't interested in having more children because he felt he'd been there and done that.
However, Miller didn't have any children of her own, and Kenny informed her that when she turned 30, her body would demand motherhood or miss out forever. Despite the musician's advice, Miller believed she'd never want to walk down that path.
Lo and behold, when she turned 31, Miller surprised her husband by asking if they could try for a child. The decision was now left in Kenny's corner, and he had to face the facts, with him telling the publication:
"So I did some soul-searching and realized it was unfair of me to take her childbearing years."
The singer also didn't want his wife to wake up at age 50 with him dead and wished she hadn't married him because she wasn't allowed to have children. In Kenny's book, Miller noted how they'd decided earlier in their relationship that they wouldn't have children.
The star's wife said in "Luck or Something Like It: A Memoir" that they didn't need children because they had exciting lives filled with travel plans that happened on a whim. She knew having children would change their lives forever.
Mille said when she turned 35, she started worrying she was missing out by not having children. During a trip to China, she called her husband to the dressing room while she got ready for dinner and asked him if they should give pregnancy a chance and if it didn't work out, they'd quit.
Kenny agreed for the same reason he'd stated to Independent.ie, that they gave it a go when they returned to Atlanta. Although the singer welcomed his children later in life, he was excited by the opportunity.
Kenny Was Thrilled at Becoming a Father to Twins
Speaking to Independent.ie, Kenny revealed how he and his wife proceeded, saying, "So we went for it, and when I was told it was twins, man, I was thrilled... was totally overwhelming." At the time the country star welcomed his children he was 65, and he noted in his book:
"As I watch Wanda with the boys, I can tell you this as a husband and a proud father of twins; this has truly been a wonderful experience for both of us."
Miller's husband shared how he couldn't stop being amazed at what a mother could do when someone had confidence in them. Kenny noted how people said having children at a later age could make or break a person and joked he was leaning more toward the latter!
The star also shared how happy he was when he and his wife celebrated 15 years of marriage after being together for 20. He described his fifth marriage as the "most compatible" one ever and that it had "felt right" from the start, adding:
“Wanda is a rare, unique woman, who I think understands me better than anyone else... I am honestly so blessed to have a wife that provides me with such a secure-feeling future. I love her more than she knows.”

Despite being happy to be a father at such a late age, the country musician had some challenges he had to overcome. The star dealt with some questions that older parents faced with their children
Kenny's Thoughts about Having Children at 65
While speaking to the Independent.ie, Kenny confessed that one of the questions he faced as an older parent was whether he should bring children into the world when he knew he wouldn't be around for some milestones like a 21st birthday.
He revealed that it bothered him daily, and his heart broke when he heard people talking about their children attending college. The singer explained that he didn't want to have more offspring because he'd miss out on the prime of their lives.
However, he noted that he still got immense joy from his brood and described them as a blessing to him and his wife. Miller's husband said the twins drew them together in a way that even sex couldn't!
Kenny hoped giving the pair an emotional foundation would make up for when he wasn't around. The singer revealed that he believed he was best at being a father despite it taking him five attempts to get it right!
He figured it wouldn't have been his destiny if he couldn't have gotten it right after five marriages. In his memoir, the artist noted how his sons, Justin and Jordan, presented him with different problems - all of which were good.
The musician shared how he hadn't been around for his first two sons, Kenny Jr. and Chris' teenage years, and didn't know what to expect with the twins. However, he wished to be there for the boys to shape their thought processes and lives as they grew.
Kenny acknowledged that he couldn't anticipate their interests, but instilling good values, letting them know they were loved, and helping them with difficult choices while allowing them to make their own would assist them in surviving.
The star said he was proud of the men his two older sons became and hoped his twins would turn out well, too, by luck or some other miracle. Sadly in March 2020, Kenny died at age 81 and wasn't around when his twins turned 18 two years later.
A third person congratulated Justin [Rogers] and noted how Kenny [Rogers] would've been "proud."
Even though the artist never got to see his sons become men, it appeared the lessons he'd left them with turned them into good teenagers. One of Kenny's sons was working hard to make a living.
Rogers's Son Praised for Having a Regular Job
In August 2022, Miller shared an image of Justin posing for a photo while in an electronic store. She revealed that her son had started a new adventure by getting a new job!

One fan congratulated the twin noting how he was "perfect for the job!!!" Whole another person addressed the people who were judging Justin, saying, "you need a lesson on empathy."
The fan said people shouldn't put expectations on their children for what they did or didn't accomplish. The Instagram user urged the other fans to view their offspring through an "unbiased lens" and celebrate their individual growth and goals.
