When a stranger approached a young girl and her siblings one day, she could sense something wasn't right. She noted how he acted friendly; moments later, he grabbed her baby brother and fled. But instead of being scared, the brave sister sprang into action.

One fine day in March 2015, three siblings were hanging out at the park near their babysitter's house in the small town of Sprague, Washington. Brenden Wright, ten, Delicia Wright, eight, and 22-month-old Owen Wright were busy having a lovely time playing with no sign of trouble.

Little did they know what awaited them around the corner. After some time, Delicia said a suspicious-looking man approached her and her siblings and tried to talk to them nicely. Not only that, but he also made quite an effort to befriend the children, added Delicia.

Something Wasn't Right

But the eight-year-old Sprague kid knew better than to trust a complete stranger. Brenden said she could feel the man was not as nice as he wanted to seem.

Her gut instincts were proven correct when he grabbed her baby brother, Owen, moments later and ran away.

In April 2015, a kind stranger rewarded Delicia and Brenden with a special gift.

Chasing the Bad Guy

As the kidnapper raced down the street with a little boy in his arms, he was caught on the surveillance footage of a nearby grocery store. In the same video, a young girl could be seen running after him as fast as her tiny legs allowed. But that wasn't all.

Another young boy followed behind the girl with a stroller in his hands. The two children were none other than Owen's older siblings, Brenden and Delicia.

Instead of panicking and thinking about their safety, the brave and quick-thinking youngsters put fear aside and chased after the bad guy to rescue their little brother. Delicia told ABC News:

"I thought he was trying to kidnap him. I ran and screamed."

To the Rescue

Like his courageous sister, Brenden said he wasn't scared and immediately jumped into action, wanting to save his baby brother's life as quickly as possible. He recalled:

"I was chasing him because, so I can get him back for my cousin's birthday (sic)."

Calling for Help

As the two older siblings chased the abductor fleeing with their baby brother, their yelling caught the attention of two passersby, who decided to help. The Wright brother-sister duo finally had help from the community members, and one of them even called 911.

The two teenagers who had heard the children's cries for help also began pursuing the abductor. When the kidnapper saw that his action had garnered attention from so many people around, he panicked, dropped the little boy in an empty lot, and fled the scene.

Kathleen Baty, a personal safety expert, shared that making noise and calling for help are the best things to do in an emergency. She said:

"Instill in your kids that when they are out in the public that if some adult comes up to them they need to have that gut reaction and go the other way and yell and scream as loud as they can."

Police identified the suspect as a 15-year-old man from Sprague. He was reportedly charged with second-degree kidnapping.

A Proud Father

Recalling the details of her brief encounter with the abductor, Delicia said he lied to her, said he was really nice to kids, and had been babysitting for a long time. But the question was: why were the kids alone at the playground?

Michael Wright, the children's father, said he had left them in the care of a family friend who thought they would be safe in the park near her house. "I don't blame her. That was an honest mistake. Small town scenario (sic)," added Michael.

More than anything, the Wright parents said they were relieved that the abductor had been apprehended and glad that their kids were all safe.

Michael said he was incredibly proud of his children for running to help their baby brother. He revealed:

"For my kids to sit there and run after them, you know, that's an act of courage."

Praising the Little Heroes

In April 2015, a kind stranger rewarded Delicia and Brenden with a special gift. The siblings received two envelopes that contained $100 each and personalized messages. Delicia's note read:

"You seem to be flying as you race down the sidewalk on such tiny legs but I suspect your real superpower is the love you have for your baby brother."

"You did what needed to be done without a thought for your own safety. You helped rescue your baby brother, and in doing so, you became a real-life superhero," said Brenden's note.

The brother-sister duo giggled and jumped with joy upon receiving their presents. Indeed, little Owen is fortunate to have two adorable superheroes watching over him. The Wright siblings' courageous act proves that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.
