Owen Wilson Was Willing to Take a DNA Test to Establish Fatherhood for Possible Child — What Is Known About His Parenthood

The actor has embraced fatherhood with his two sons, sharing glimpses of their lives in rare interviews. However, his role as a parent took a complicated turn when a woman claimed he fathered a daughter in 2018.

Owen Wilson Acknowledged the Possibility of Fathering a Third Child

In October 2018, Owen was linked to fathering a third child when a woman named Varunie Vongsvirates welcomed a daughter, Lyla Aranya Wilson.

Born on October 9, the bundle of joy weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and measured 21 inches long. Her mother chose the middle name Aranya to reflect her father's Thai heritage.

Before Lyla's birth, Varunie reportedly informed Owen that she was pregnant, and, according to reports, he was willing to take a paternity test.

However, the actor never publicly addressed the situation, and his representatives did not comment. A source close to him stated, "Of course, if a paternity test establishes that [Wilson] is the father of another child, he will fulfill all of his obligations to support his child."

Varunie first announced her pregnancy in June 2018, sharing an ultrasound image on Instagram. In August, she posted a photo with Owen at the world premiere of "Father Figures," a film about two brothers searching for their father.

She later confirmed to Us Weekly that Owen was the father of her child. During her pregnancy, Varunie shared occasional updates with her Instagram followers, including photos from her baby shower and a throwback from Maui, Hawaii, where she learned she was expecting.

She has continued to share her daughter's special moments and milestones on Instagram over the years, as well as her own motherhood journey.

The mother and daughter had shared several travel experiences from when Lyla was a baby. Varunie ​​​​​​​ posted a picture of her daughter in Mexico wearing the cutest tropical dress.

She shared another adorable image of Lyla in a stroller rocking a pink head wrap and a floral jumpsuit, with the caption, "I love you so much," and a hashtag of her daughter's full name.

The mother and daughter also took an exciting trip to Disney World, and they were photographed in Hawaii with Lyla wearing a blue cap with "Aloha" printed on it. Another sweet picture Varunie​​​​​​​ shared was of Lyla building a tiny but adorable snowman.

On her third birthday, Varunie​​​​​​​ called Lyla her "wild child," and on her fourth birthday celebration, she had a fall-themed party. It was filled with pumpkin decorations, brown balloons to match the fall leaves, and many treats. To finish the look, Lyla fit the theme with orange velvet pants, a white top, and a tiara.

Owen Wilson's Bond with His Two Sons and Life as a Father

Owen has always been private about his personal life, but he has occasionally shared glimpses of fatherhood. During a 2017 appearance on "The Ellen Show," he spoke about his two sons, Ford and Finn, and their developing personalities.

"Ford seems like he might even be a little stunt man in training," Owen said of his eldest son, describing him as "fearless" before sharing a video of him performing a belly flop off a diving board. "He's a big Jackie Chan fan," he added.

Owen shares Ford with his ex-girlfriend, Jade Duell. Choosing a name for his firstborn wasn't easy, the actor admitted in a separate interview.

"I know. It's hard! And then even when you come up with it, it's still hard once they're born. The first few days you're like saying the name, but it's like, 'Is this right?'" he shared.

He continued, "And then after a month goes by it's like you can't imagine them having any other name because all of a sudden they are that name."

As for how he and Jade settled on Robert Ford, Owen explained, "Jade and I just liked the name. Thought it was a good name, a very American-sounding name, and I don't know a lot of kids named Ford so it seemed kind of original."

The "Wedding Crashers" star added, "And now, it's just like what I was saying to you, I can't imagine him having any other name because he is Ford."

Owen's second son, Finn, was born in January 2014. TMZ previously confirmed that Finn's full name, as listed on his birth certificate, is Finn Lindqvist Wilson.

He shares Finn with Caroline Lindqvist, his former personal trainer. According to reports, Caroline was in the process of divorcing her husband, a plastic surgeon, when she became pregnant with the actor's child.

However, she and Owen never planned to pursue a relationship after her divorce or Finn’s birth. "They are not living together, but Owen is involved [in the pregnancy]. He comes to doctor's appointments and makes sure Caroline is doing well," a source revealed at the time.

While Owen is widely recognized for his comedic talents, his children aren't easily impressed. "I can make a joke, and it's, like, crickets," he joked.

"There was like, my parents, there was no seat belts and stuff. I don't even think they wore seat belts back then. My mom would just kinda put her arm out," he continued. "I'd be riding standing up in the front seat. And now you wouldn't dream of going anyplace without your car seats and all roped in," Owen added.

He laughed as he recalled his parents dropping him and his brothers off at the pool in the morning and picking them up at the end of the day, recalling, "They'd be like, 'You got great color, you look so good.'"
