While his wife acted in front of the camera, Kay was busy on the other side of the screen as a director. Kay was also involved in producing "1883," "Yellowstone's" prequel.

Before Kay worked behind the scenes, he started his career in show business as an actor known for "Murder, She Wrote," "Deadly Games," "Thirtysomething," "Lethal Weapon 3," "Quantum Leap," and "General Hospital," where he took on the role of Reginald for 21 episodes.
However, Kay later transitioned to directing, producing, and writing. Most notably, Kay directed 15 episodes of "Covert Affairs" and worked as the show's executive producer. The series, which ran for five seasons, starred his wife and landed her a Golden Globe nomination.
Kay's name was also credited as a director in "Sons of Anarchy" for seven episodes, "Friday Night Lights" for three episodes, "Quantico" for two episodes, and "Harley and the Davidsons" for one episode.

Although most of his work is on television, Kay also makes films. His first movie credit came in 1997's "The Last Time I Committed Suicide." In 2000, Kay worked on "Get Carter," and five years later, he directed "Boogeyman." He has since worked in horror, including "The Craigslist Killer" in 2011.
Working in Hollywood for a while allowed Kay to connect with actresses, such that he dated some of them. Previously, he had relationships with "Desperate Housewives" stars Eva Longoria and Teri Hatcher.
However, the woman who stole Kay's heart was the person he now calls his wife. Before they even tied the knot, the actress had already expressed her fondness for Kay, claiming he was among those she would have a dream dinner with, hypothetically.

Kay and Perabo tied the knot on July 27, 2014, in New York City, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The duo, who celebrated the reception with a New Orleans band, was over the moon to be legally bonded. "They're very happy," a source close to the couple said.
Her parents played pivotal roles in Perabo's passion for films as they were film enthusiasts.
Perabo first met his wife while working on "Covert Affairs." There was an instant connection between the two, who initially dated secretly. The couple kept their relationship private until their September 2013 engagement.
Although they have no biological children as a couple, Kay is a father to a daughter from a previous relationship. Perabo also shares a good relationship with her stepdaughter.

The doting stepmother did not share many details about her stepdaughter. However, she expressed how grateful she is to be a stepmom. In 2019, Perabo beamed with pride as she revealed her stepdaughter had a Netflix show coming.
She said, "I just feel like she's perfect. [Do] you know what I mean? I really hit the jackpot with her, and so when you get handed, like, an ace, just like, count your lucky stars."

The "Yellowstone" star, born on October 31, 1976, was raised by an Irish professor at Ocean County College, her father, and a Norwegian physiotherapist, her mother. Her parents played pivotal roles in Perabo's passion for films as they were film enthusiasts.
Although the actress graduated with a degree from Ohio University, she pursued a career in acting. After her education, she joined New York City's Trinity/La Mama Performing Arts Program.
Perabo has displayed her talent in the entertainment industry for several years. Her big-screen debut came in the 1999 comedy "Whiteboyz." However, her 2000 role as Violet Sanford in "Coyote Ugly" earned her praise from movie critics.
She also had a notable role as FBI Agent Karen Sympathy in "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle." In 2001, Perabo was recognized with an MTV Movie Award for Best Music Moment, launching her into stardom.
Her other on-screen credits include "Followers," "Cheaper by the Dozen," "George and the Dragon," "The Prestige," and the hit television series "Yellowstone."
Perabo shares the screen with some of Hollywood's greatest actors on the show, including Kevin Costner. "The Untouchables" star has several awards, including three Golden Globe Awards, two Academy Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, and one Emmy Award.
