Man Brings Old Adoptive Mom to Nursing Home, Meets Biological Dad Who Didn’t Know He Had a Son – Story of the Day
A son who visits his old adoptive mother every day after she moved to a nursing home meets her new friend and is stunned. The new friend, an old man, turns out to be his bio father.
When Luke was a little boy, a woman with the sweetest smile and a man with a hearty laugh brought him home from the shelter where he was abandoned by his birth mother, and they became his family.
The woman, Eve, and the man, Stewart, were his adoptive parents, but in Luke's little world, they were everything.

Unfortunately, that world shrunk when he was only 8. Papa Stewart passed away, and Luke was left with mommy Eve. He cried a lot because he missed Stewart, and Eve struggled to console his broken heart.
Now at 38, Luke wanted to cry like that again. He wanted to cry because Eve wanted to leave him and move to a nursing home. Luke didn't want that to happen.
"It would be best for both of us. What was that place called again? Sunrise Home? Luke, please," Eve pleaded.
Luke was speechless.
"I'm asking that of you, Luke. You need not blame yourself for this," she assured him.
"And I'd be repeating what my mother did to me if I agreed," he replied, agitated. "Mom, what's the problem here? If you think I'm not a good caretaker, I'll find you one. Do you really have to do this?"
Eve smiled through her tears. "I love you, Luke. I feel so blessed that out of the children at the shelter, Stewart and I chose to bring you home."
"And now you want to leave me," Luke grumbled."Why are you suddenly insisting on moving to a nursing facility, mom? I don't want to be a bad son and abandon you."

"Oh, boy!" she laughed. "You are welcome to come and see me, and they have excellent facilities for senior folks like me. Look, Luke, I want this. Because of me, you're putting your life on hold. Live your life, marry, and have children. What your mother did and what I'm asking is not the same thing. I want this, and I'm sure my son won't say no, will he?"
And Eve won, like always. Luke loved her so much that he'd never say no to her for anything. Two days later, he was pushing her wheelchair into her new home.
Sometimes, a moment is all it takes for life to change.
A kind caretaker at the facility showed him Eve's room, which seemed like a comfortable space with nicely done interiors. Then he took a tour of the recreation room, where he saw several elderly people who seemed happy despite the tragic stories the caregiver had told him about them.
"I love you, and I'll come every day to see you, ok?" Luke said and hugged Eve before leaving.
"I'd be waiting for you, darling," she said. "Take care."

Luke settled in his car and waved goodbye to Eve before driving away. On the way home, he cried. He was already missing her. How was he going to live without her?
And well, he couldn't. From the next day on, Luke started leaving his office early so he could spend extra time with Eve at the nursing home. And he did that every day.
"I'm envious of you, Eve," her friends began telling her. "You son is one-in-a-million! Kids these days just don't seem to care about their parents!"
"He is MY son," Eve would tell her friends proudly. "My husband and I took him in when he was a little boy. I feel fortunate that he came into my life."
And that was another shocker for Eve's friends because Luke wasn't her biological child, but he cared for her like one. Eve was blessed. She knew that.

One Sunday morning, when Luke visited Eve at the nursing home, she seemed very happy.
"What's the matter, mom?" he asked with a chuckle. "I've not seen you smile like that in a while!"
"Oh, you won't believe it, darling!" said Eve. "I met a man here who loves Emily Dickinson's poetry! Can you believe that? We have the same taste in literature—and, and—he loves to play chess! We became friends, and I want you to meet him!"
"I see," Luke smiled. "So, where's your special friend?"
"Oh, come with me…"
Eve asked Luke to roll her wheelchair to the recreation room, where an older man was reading a book. He was handsome, Luke thought.

"Samuel," said Eve. "Meet my son, Luke!"
The man put his reading glasses down and grinned. "So you're Luke! I've heard great things about you, young man. Good to meet you, son."
"Nice to meet you too, Samuel," Luke said.
"Have we met before, Luke?" Samuel suddenly asked. "Something about you seems familiar."
Luke grinned. "I don't think so, sir," he replied. "I'm sure I'm meeting you for the first time."
Samuel seemed uncomfortable, and Luke noticed that. At one point, Samuel frowned, and his eyes were locked on Luke.

"Where did you get that, boy?" Simon suddenly asked, staring at a pendant Luke was wearing, his eyes welling up with tears. "That pendant you've got around your neck! Where did you get that?"
"This belongs to my birth mother, sir," Luke said calmly. "She abandoned me as a child, and while I hate her for that, I still kept this. I don't know why…"
"That—that pendant, boy, is one of a kind!" Samuel said in tears. "I can't be mistaken because I made it for my girlfriend who dumped me for another man... Is there any chance you're my son?" he asked, and Luke's heart skipped a beat.
"I—I have no idea if she was pregnant then! I loved her so much that I never remarried. No wonder you look familiar...you resemble her!" Samuel added.
Luke and Samuel were in shock, and so was Eve. None of them could believe it.

After much thought, Eve asked Luke and Samuel to take a DNA test. "That'd be best..." she said.
Luke and Samuel did that, and when the test results arrived a week later, they hugged each other in tears.
"DAD!" Luke sobbed. "I'm so glad I got to meet you!"
"And so am I, son," Samuel said. "God works in mysterious ways. I—I thank him for reuniting me with my son. Oh, I'm so thankful!"
Four years have passed since that day. Eve and Samuel are still friends who share a passion for chess and literature. But nowadays, it's difficult for them to make time for those activities, as they have a lot of new and tiny visitors.
Three years ago, Samuel got married and started a family with his wife, Laura. They welcomed a set of triplet girls and a little baby boy. The kids just love spending time with Ganma Eve and Grampa Samuel.
Samuel has found a family he never had, and Eve feels blessed to see Luke's family blossom.
