British rock star Rod Stewart confessed that he advised his teenage son against being a teenage parent. Stewart said he knows his son is good-looking, so he had to tell him early on to "keep it in his pants."
The rockstar speaks from experience as he had his first daughter Sarah Steeter at 17 years old. Stewart has eight kids, and despite the advice, he gave his son, he is more than happy to be a father. "The Sailing" star is proud that his children love him and are not embarrassed to be seen in public with him.
He also loves that his children value his sense of fashion; Stewart revealed that his sons borrow clothes from him, which he did not experience as his father was a plumber.
As a father of eight children with age gaps varying from 10 to 48 years, Stewart has learned the art of being a different father for each of his children.
He said it allows him to have unique, close-knit relationships with each of his children. "You can't be the same father to your 26-year-old as you can to your 10-year-old," he added.
The 77-year-old rock star's eldest daughter is 58 years old. He also has two kids from his first marriage with Alana Hamilton, Kimberly, 42, and Sean, 41.
From his relationship with Kelly Emberg, he has one child, Ruby, 34. The singer tied the knot for the second time with Rachel Hunter, and they welcomed Renee, 29, and Liam, 27. Stewart is currently married to Lady Penny Lancaster-Stewart, and they have two children, Alastair, 15, and Aiden, 10.
The rockstar opened up about his relationship with his eldest daughter, whom he had in his teenage relationship with Susannah Boffey.
The young couple decided to put their daughter up for adoption, but after Steeter’s adoptive mother passed in 2008, Stewart was able to rebuild a connection with her.
Stewart revealed that he has a very close relationship with Steeter now and confessed that his song "Brighton Beach" was about the heartbreak he experienced from his relationship with her mother.
Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster's Secret to a Loving Marriage
Stewart and Lancaster have been married for 15 years, and the singer said it still feels like they are in their honey phase. He revealed that the secret to a long-lasting marriage is intimacy in different forms; it could be hugging each other or a perk on the cheek throughout the day.
The rock star gushed over his marriage and the intimacy he shares with his wife and said, "what makes me happiest now is seeing all my kids and my wife with big smiles on their faces,"
Cooking is not Stewart's strong suit, so he appreciates his wife for taking that on, but what makes his relationship impressive is its strength to withstand his busy schedule.
As a 77-year-old musician, Stewart has shown no signs of stopping, he has released his 30th solo album, and Lancaster has been able to roll with the punches of his demanding career and the two sons they share.
Lancaster said she has realized that men get needy when children come into the picture, especially if the relationship did not involve children for a long time.
So the former model said she tries her best to divide her time between her children and husband. She is focused on the quality she can get with Stewart in the chaos.
For Lancaster, it was as simple as checking in with one another. As much as the children's well-being always takes the front seat, the mother of two emphasized that it is essential to pay attention to her partner.
Stewart spoke about how he helped his wife get through menopause. He confessed that he was not well informed about the changes women endured during this period, so he made it his mission to do as much research as possible.
The rockstar confessed that it was frightening to see Lancaster go through menopause because it turned her into someone he did not know, so to understand her emotions, he had to learn how to be supportive.
After many google searches, Stewart tried to inform his children about their mother's mood swings, but they did not understand, so he had to be able to keep the peace in the house.
Rod Stewart Is Happy to Embrace Being a Grandfather
Stewart's daughter, Kimberly, welcomed her first child, Delilah, in 2011. Kimberly, a famous television personality, was surrounded by her family, including the rockstars wife, Kimberly's mother, Hamilton, her brother Sean, and six of her half-siblings.
Kimberly shares Delilah with actor Benicio Rafael del Toro, but they are no longer together. On the other hand, Stewart said welcoming his grandchild was an "indescribable” feeling.
Delilah also arrived on Kimberly's birthday, which made the day more memorable. The rockstar reportedly celebrated his daughter's 32nd birthday at a renowned Italian restaurant in Hollywood called Dan Tana's.
Delilah seems to have taken after her grandfather's musical talent. Kimberly shared pictures of her daughter playing the violin and confidently performing at one of her school plays.
