Nieku Manshadi Always Wanted a Profession That Allows Him to Help Others: Meet Elizabeth Lail's Husband
While his wife has been an actress on the rise following her notable role in "You," Nieku Manshadi, Elizabeth Lail's husband, knew early on in his medical career that he wanted to set a good example for children through his dental profession.
After a classic and romantic meet-cute, Lail and Manshadi have celebrated over a year of marriage. She shot to fame for her performance as Guinevere Beck in "You" alongside Penn Badgley, but her husband chose a career out of the spotlight.
Manshadi comes from a family of dentists, so his career was seemingly written in the stars. Lail and Mandshadi said "I do" in 2021, and the private couple gave the public a sneak peek of their big day during their interview with Brides.
Nieku Manshadi is a dentist and loves to help people
Manshadi went to dental school in San Fransico at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He furthered his studies and enrolled at Boston University before completing his residency in pediatrics in two years.
Initially, Manshadi had dreamed of becoming an oral surgeon or an orthodontist, with pediatrics dentistry taking him by surprise. However, he always knew the goal was to help people. He said:
"I always wanted to work in a profession where I am helping others lead healthier lives. I had an excellent dentist growing up, and that really left a huge impression on me."

Although he came from a family of dentists, Manshadi was the first to work mainly with children. As a board-certified dentist by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Manshadi revealed that he found instant gratification in working with children.
He had experience working with patients and their families and found the perk of his job to be working with children from as young as toddlers until their six or seven. Manshadi said he always felt like he was "patching things up" whenever he worked with adults.
Debunking the stigma that visiting the dentist's office is scary was at the forefront of Manshadi's mind. He prioritized making his patients feel comfortable and aimed to instill a sense of excitement about oral hygiene in children.
So, he became a licensed provider of safe treatment to patients with special needs and oral conscious sedation for patients with anxiety.
After spending two weeks in an internship in Texas, Manshadi worked with many low-income children and realized there were a lot of under-serviced communities. This kickstarted his traveling to countries like the Philippines and Ecuador to provide vital dental procedures for the less fortunate.
And as a passionate traveler, it was also a way for Manshadi to immerse himself in different countries and get a taste of the world. Outside of work, Manshadi said he spent his time with friends and family. He added:
"When I'm not working, I like to stay active. I'm an avid skier, so I travel quite a bit."
Their Wedding Was Small and Intimate
Manshadi and Lail met at a mutual friend's party in Williamsburg. After hitting things off and dating, Manshadi proposed in Montauk, New York, during a weekend getaway during the pandemic.
During a beach bonfire, making s'mores with the sun setting in the distance, Manshadi proposed to Lail with her grandmother's wedding ring. And like Ariana Grande and her husband, Lail and Manshadi had a mid-Covid wedding.
Following their August 2020 engagement, Lail and Manshadi married on April 24, 2021, at Hasbrouck House in Stone Ridge, New York– where they celebrated their first anniversary.
Due to covid-19 restrictions, Lail and Manshadi were limited to a small group of guests. However, they did not want to postpone their wedding day. On their big day, Lail and Manshadi wrote each other love letters, which they read to each other during their first look. Lail said:
"It was such a beautiful moment to really connect with one another before adrenaline sweeps you away."
Lail wore a simple yet chic custom dress from U.K.-based designer Andrea Hawkes, which she complimented with jewelry from Tiffany and Co. In contrast, Manshadi wore a black suit from Freemans Sporting Club and a bow tied inspired by his grandfather.
