The retired singer spoke about her "saddest moment as a mother" in 2018.
On December 9, 2022, Afida Turner revealed on her Instagram account that she'd lost her husband, Ronnie Turner. The post included several images of Ronnie with his French wife and others, plus his famous mother, Tina Turner.
In the caption, the singer shared how close she and her husband had been before his death. However, Afida didn't reveal in the first post what had caused her husband's unexpected death, but in follow-ups, she mentioned how he'd been ill.
The star described Ronnie as a "true angel" and her "best friend." Afida shared how she'd tried to save her husband but couldn't and thought his death was a "tragedy" and "unfair."
In another post that included throwback images of Ronnie as a boy, with his siblings, mother, and father, Afida recalled what a "terrific musician and bass player" her husband was. She shared how heartbroken she was about his death.
The songstress also noted how he'd gotten sick with cancer three weeks before his death. On December 12, 2022, Ronnie's wife revealed how much grief she was struggling with by sharing a third post about the loss of her husband.
She explained how "shocked" she was and filled with "sadness" about losing him. Ronnie, 62 at the time of his death, married his wife in 2007, the same year Ike Turner died, while his older brother, Craig Raymond Turner, passed away in 2018.
Many of his family have died out over the years, including Tina's sister and his aunt, Alline Bullock, who died in 2010. Afida wasn't the only Turner family member who publically mourned Ronnie's death.
How Did Tina Pay Tribute to Her Son?
Tina, then 83 in 2022, shared a short but moving tribute to her late son. The iconic musician included a black-and-white Instagram picture of herself with her eyes closed and wrote:
"Ronnie, you left the world far too early. In sorrow I close my eyes and think of you, my beloved son."
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), police officers responded before 10 a.m. to a death involving a man who lived at Ronnie's Encino, California home, with the man's identity being unconfirmed at the time.
A report said someone called 911 and revealed the late musician struggled to breathe until he stopped altogether. Bystanders tried giving him CPR, but paramedics pronounced the star dead at the scene.
Tina welcomed Ronnie in 1960 when she started seeing Ike before marrying him in 1962. The singer had Craig, Ronnie's half-sibling, at 18 in 1958 with Raymond Hill, but later in life, Ike adopted him.
The star [Tina Turner] said she had photos of him [Craig Raymond Turner] smiling and sensed her son was in a good place and finally at peace.
After their marriage, the "We Don't Need Another Hero" singer adopted Ike's children, Michael and Ike Jr. Ike shared the boys with his ex-wife Lorraine Taylor, and by 2022, both of Tina's biological sons had died.
What Happened to Tina's Other Son, Craig?
Craig was 59 when the Los Angeles Coroner's Office confirmed his death by suicide. The Beverly Hills realtor was pronounced dead at his Studio City, California, residence at 12:38 p.m.
On July 19, 2018, Tina shared an Instagram photo of herself saying a "final goodbye" to her son by placing a red rose on the coast of California after scattering Craig's ashes, with the singer writing:
"My saddest moment as a mother."

The retired vocalist's family and friends attended the gathering, with Tina noting, "he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby." A year after Craig's death, the former songstress told Gayle King how she thought her son had been lonely.
Tina believed that was the final nail in the coffin for her son. The star said she had photos of him smiling and sensed her son was in a good place and finally at peace.
