Betty White's Home of 53 Years Is Torn Down – Before/after Pics of Family Home with 'Love of Her Life' Allen Ludden
Betty White lived in her family home for 54 years until her very last day. Now, a year after her death, the house is no more.
The celebrated actress Betty White's house was sold after she passed away in 2021. The house is an impressive 3,029 square feet and features five bedrooms and six bathrooms. The two-story building is complete with a spacious garden and a brilliant view of the Getty museum close by.
The outside is mainly painted white, and all the windows have rustic wooden shutters painted yellow. The house also offered a comfortable porch with a wide roof, a large yellow bench, and a colorful arrangement of flowers in the garden stretching around it.

White has been living in the Los Angeles Brentwood house since 1968, and she moved into the property with her third husband, Allen Ludden. They enjoyed numerous games of charades with close friends in the spacious confines of the guest house. The home also had a sunroom with a lovely view of the garden.
But the house isn't the only thing she had to take care of after her late husband after he passed.
The "Ladies Man" actress loved relaxing while staring out at the variety of trees, flowers, and shrubs that filled her backyard. A large swimming pool also stretched across the luxurious lawn. The house itself was a blend of wood and stone and featured large windows, as well as lovely bay windows.
With a wide driveway, a big wrought-iron gate, and an eye-catching yellow front door, the house demanded any onlooker's attention at first glance. Due to its location in Los Angeles, it reportedly made more sense to market the property as a tear-down to ensure the highest sale price possible.
White's Life after the Death of Her Husband
White spent 13 happy years with her beloved husband, but in 1981, Ludden passed away at the age of 63. He had been battling stomach cancer before his death, and he died right before his wife started on her hit show, "Golden Girls." After his death, White held onto their two-story home until she passed away.
But the house isn't the only thing she had to take care of after her late husband after he passed. White became the stepmother of Ludden's three children, and although she never wanted to be a mother, she loved them with all her heart. She had always focused on her career, but she confessed in her autobiography:
"[Our relationship was] so great, they called me 'Dragon Lady,' lovingly. Even after all these years, we love each other dearly, and I am most proud of the children this career girl inherited."

Ironically, White was so adamant about not wanting children that she allegedly ended her second marriage because her husband at the time wanted them so much. In the end, she took to the role of stepmother quite well, even though it was a struggle at the start, and she had to build relationships gradually.
Not even a diamond ring could convince her to marry Ludden at first.
The comedian gave a tour of the house she shared with Ludden, showing off the five bedrooms filled with knick-knacks and various stuffed animals in a humorous video. She admitted that she loved stuffed animals and said she even greets them whenever she walks into a room and says goodbye when she leaves.

Sadly, White passed away of natural causes in her home at the age of 99 on Friday, December 31. Soon after the news broke, adoring fans filled up the street in front of the property with flowers and keepsakes to commemorate the life of the television icon.
White's House Is Sold and Torn Down
After the actress died, the house was put on the market. A year later, the estate managers found a buyer. The Los Angeles property, which sold for an astounding $10.678 million, was also demolished soon after the new buyer acquired it. Only a single fireplace was left standing, which was knocked down a few days later.
The news was relayed on Facebook by White's personal assistant, Kierstan Mikelas. She posted a number of pictures showing the now-empty lot, some building rubble, and the lone fireplace and chimney. She captioned the post by saying the house was gone and the fireplace would soon follow. She posted:
"Hello all! I owe a post (or two) I know. Her Brentwood home is no more (save the fireplaces which will be gone in short order). I promise a wonderful tribute to our most wonderful lady very soon!!!!"
The actress bought the house with Ludden, who was the "love of [her] life." The two spent many happy years together, and they met while working together on two plays. Not even a diamond ring could convince her to marry Ludden at first. After her first two marriages, she had no intention of tying the knot again. She said:
"[I regret] that year that I wasted saying no. I would've given anything to have had it back. It was a love affair."
Eventually, Ludden wore her down, and he got her to agree by sending her a stuffed bunny animal toy along with two gemmed earrings. When he called her that night, she couldn't resist him anymore, and she answered the phone with a decided "yes."

After Ludden passed away, White never remarried and stayed in the home they lived in together. She said of Ludden, "I had the love of my life. If you've had the best, who needs the rest?" After working to form meaningful relationships with her stepchildren, they got along great.
