At the 2022 Rockefeller Tree Lighting Ceremony, Blake Shelton shared that he and his wife, Gwen Stefani, have started a Christmas tradition. They attempt to cook a complicated or unusual dish which can sometimes end in disaster. But the fun is in trying something new together.

The tradition began when Stefani made Beef Wellington, a challenging recipe to execute, and the family got hooked on the challenge. Shelton finds cooking easier than singing with Stefani because they don't take themselves too seriously. They can let loose and laugh at their mistakes.

Shelton and Stefani met when they were both coaches on season 7 of "The Voice." Sparks flew between the country star and the rock singer, who bonded over the breakup of their previous relationships and they began dating.

The country star and fashion icon announced their engagement in October 2020. Speaking about his lady love, Shelton said:

"An Okie boy and a California girl look on paper like an unlikely match, but what matters is she's a great human being. She is the most understanding, kind-hearted person I've ever met and I learn something from her every day."

The duo collaborates beyond the studio and in the kitchen. As a married couple, they also clean together, go fishing and off-roading, and spend time with their friends and family, including Stefani's three children from her first marriage to Gavin Rossdale.

Supportive Husband

Stefani's accolades include being an award-winning singer, songwriter, and fashion mogul. She has topped the charts as the lead singer for the band No Doubt and as a solo pop act and is a driven fashion and beauty entrepreneur. But she also enjoys spending time at home, and cooking for her family is one of her favorite hobbies.

Stefani was apprehensive that her being a mother would make Shelton less likely to commit. Little did she know that Shelton had a living example of a great father in his dad, Richard.

Stefani often shares glimpses of their family life with Shelton and her children, Kingston, 16, Zuma, 14, and Apollo, 8. Her husband and the boys appreciate the effort and love she puts into cooking for them, even when it doesn't turn out exactly as she envisioned.

When she made some ravioli from scratch, the results tasted "terrible," but her husband was hazarded a taste. Shelton may not have the most adventurous palate, but he supports his wife wholeheartedly. In an episode of "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon, Shelton, who was trying sushi for the first time, joked:

"Hey, what could be more disgusting than raw fish? Whatever this is. Can we get more of that rice wine?"

The country crooner made an effort to try everything, sometimes grimacing after choking down a mouthful. The textures and tastes of the beautifully plated food were unfamiliar but he seemed to enjoy the saké. Shelton perked up when Fallon offered a final consolation course of a hamburger from Mcdonald's as a palate cleanser.

Dad Taught Blake to Be a Family Man

One role that Shelton relishes is that of being a stepfather to his wife's children. He took to the boys as soon as they were introduced and has been building a relationship with them ever since. He might not have been fully prepared, but he admits to have fallen in love with the boys just as much as their mother.

"The Voice" introduced Shelton's music to the mainstream and reinforced the significance of country music in the American musical identity.

Shelton recently stunned "The Voice" fans, announcing that the 2023 season would be his last. He is ready to move on from the singing contest after 12 years of chair-turns and bonding with the crew.

The star has successfully coached talents to win the competition eight times, including country acts like Cassadee Pope and Danielle Bradbery.

The show was also the backdrop to the love story between Shelton and Stefani, who returned to the 22nd season of the show after getting married in 2021. Fellow coaches this season are John Legend and Camilla Cabello.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani love to spend time at their ranch in Oklahoma, where they got married on July 3, 2021, in the company of their immediate family and close friends. It's the perfect retreat to enjoy the outdoors, driving four-wheelers, fishing, and hunting, a whole new world for the boys.
