Captain Lee Rosbach became popular on the hit Bravo show "Below Deck," a series that shows the real-life struggles and triumphs of crews working aboard luxury yachts. Rosbach is the captain of Valor and has been on the show since its first season in 2013.

Although she is not a big part of the show, his wife, Mary Anne, is the leading lady of his life. The couple has been married for 47 years and is so in love. Mary Anne claims not to have made much of an impression on him when they first met, but once they made a connection, they have never parted ways.

The nature of Rosbach's work takes him away from home for extended periods, but he and his wife have managed to maintain their relationship by making the times they spend together count. It is more about quality time rather than quantity. Speaking about what has made their marriage so successful, the captain said:

"The old adage 'absence makes the heart grow fonder is true."

The Rosbach family base is in Florida, and Mary Anne is always there, waiting for her sea-faring husband. The captain calls her his best friend, takes her along to events and shows her as much as possible. Even his crew noted the difference in him when his wife visited the show. Their captain was much happier than usual.

Rosbach offered a simple formula for sustaining a relationship for many years: it takes work. And both parties have to put in the effort to move forward together. He admitted that his motivation is to make his bride smile. If she's happy, then he is content.

Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife seem to be a joyous couple, seldom taking a picture or appearing in public without smiles on their faces.

The Valor skipper has expressed his appreciation to Mary Anne for supporting him. She stood by him when he transitioned from being a restauranteur to working in the yachting industry. They also leaned on each other upon losing their last-born son, Joshua Lee Rosbach, in July 2019.

Smiling After the Tears

Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife seem to be a joyous couple, seldom taking a picture or appearing in public without smiles on their faces. But the opioid epidemic robbed them of their son Josh and their smiles. Remembering the day he found his son's body at a lawmakers meeting in 2021, the captain said:

"The sight of my son on the sofa is the first image I see every day when I wake up, and it’s the last thing I picture every night before I fall asleep. This is how I’ve spent every night and every day for the last two years."

After a fight for his life, Josh finally succumbed to an overdose. It is heartbreaking for parents to bury their son, but the couple has found ways to cope. They have sponsored a victim of addiction to a recovery center in honor of their son. They also redesigned Mary Anne's ring, adding an inscription and some of Josh's ashes so she could always feel close to him.

Brighter Days Ahead

The "Below Deck" star and his wife have a daughter and three other sons. Strange as it may sound, their children may not be avid watchers of "Below Deck." Mary Anne recalls one of their sons, who is also in yachting, saying that for his kids who have worked for their dad, watching the show is like watching home movies starring other people.

They hope that telling their story will spur the government to make changes that will prevent other families from going through what they experienced.

Their family is the source of joy, and they often share glimpses into their private moments on social media. The captain and his wife are involved grandparents and proud of their grandchildren. In 2021, the captain shared that they were blessed with an adorable addition to the family: his great-granddaughter, Amelia.

Rosbach, who is on the app, Cameo, has shared sage advice with anyone who, like him, has a partner whose birthday is also Valentine's Day; always get them two gifts. If your love tells you that one gift will do for their birthday and the special day, don't fall for that trap. On her part, Mary Anne had this to say about the ups and downs of being married to the stud of the sea:

“ I think the best thing about getting through and having a happy marriage is that you always have your best friend by your side, no matter what.”

The good captain has recently experienced health issues that have affected his ability to continue his beloved yachting, forcing him to exit season ten of "Below Deck" before its completion. Fans and colleagues alike joined in wishing him well, hoping he returns to good health soon.

Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife, Mary Anne, continue to love each other and their family and to raise awareness about the devastation of the opioid crisis to sufferers and their families. They hope that telling their story will spur the government to make changes that will prevent other families from going through what they experienced.
