Kidnapped 5-Month-Old Twin Found Alive before Christmas Thanks to Two Women's Maternal Instinct
Two mothers decided to follow their gut one day, leading them to save the life of a kidnapped five-month-old boy right before Christmas. Their mother's instinct led them to capture the suspect and return the baby to his parents.
Mothers know best—and in one particular instance, a mother's instinct saved the life of an innocent five-month-old boy who had been abducted. Realizing just how worried the boy's parents must be, the woman sprung to action to ensure the little boy made it home safe for Christmas.
The horror story of a 24-year-old woman stealing a running car outside a pizza joint made headlines around the country, as she also took with her 5-month-old twin babies who were inside the car. While one twin baby was found abandoned at an airport parking lot a day after the incident, the other twin was nowhere to be found.
A Strange Encounter
The rescue mission began when Shyann Delmar bought toys from a woman who introduced herself as "Mae" the day following the abduction. Shyann bought toys from "Mae" and afterward gave the woman a ride to the dollar store.
However, while inside the car, Shyann noticed that her passenger was acting strange. Her behavior made Shyann so uncomfortable that she decided to record what was happening inside the vehicle.
By the time Shyann dropped "Mae" off at the dollar store, they had exchanged phone numbers. Even when Shyann returned home, she still couldn't shake off the thought that something was going on with the woman she had just met, but it wasn't until the following day that she sprung to action.
Following a Mother's Instinct
While scrolling through Facebook, Shyann came across a mugshot of a blonde-haired woman. She instantly realized that the woman looked familiar, and after piecing two and two together, she realized the woman was "Mae."
Shyann called her grandmother and told her that she had a hunch that Mae was the woman who abducted the children. However, her grandmother warned her that many people looked alike.
Still bothered by what she saw, Shyann then asked her cousin, Mecka Curry, if "Mae" could be the suspect she saw on the mugshot, named "Nalah Jackson." After seeing the photo, Mecka got a bad feeling. She knew then and there that she wanted to get to the bottom of the incident.
Planning a Rescue Mission
By December 22, 2022, which Mecka believed to be a date tied with good luck, they pieced together a plan that would lure "Mae" back to Shyann's car before police would pull them over to arrest the suspect. While it seemed like a feasible plan, it was challenging to pull off because several police departments did not want to take the two mothers seriously.
However, once the police knew about the plan, they cooperated. "Mae" had asked Shyann if she wanted to buy more toys, and they used that to lure the suspect into the car. Once they got in, both Shyann and Mecka knew that this was 100% the suspect they saw on the mugshot.
"The confirmation was just too crazy," Mecka commented. Despite confirming that they had a criminal inside their car, they kept their cool so that the woman wouldn't suspect anything. When the police made it to the scene at a traffic stop, the mothers live-streamed the whole ordeal.
Jackson's Arrest
The suspect, who was indeed Nalah Jackson, was arrested by the police. However, the women still had one more thing to do: find Kason, the missing baby. The two women knew he was likely still inside his mother's stolen car, a 2010 Honda Accord.
Using a bus ticket the suspect had left behind, the pair searched every bus stop on the route before they eventually found the car that had Kason inside. Everything happened too quickly when they confirmed that he was inside the car.
They yelled, ran, called people, and flagged down police officers to rescue the young boy. Eventually, Kason was returned to his family, who was extremely grateful for the selfless work that both Shyann and Mecka put in to rescue their little boy.
Reunited with His Family
While Kason recuperated at a hospital before going home for the holidays, Jackson was in jail and charged with two counts of felony kidnapping. The boy's grandmother, LaFonda Thomas, expressed her appreciation to Shyann and Mecka for what they had done. She said:
"Mecka and Shyy – I appreciate you, my family appreciates you. What you guys did, it took courage."
Kason's twin brother, Kyair, was abandoned in his car carrier seat with a blanket wrapped around him in a parking lot at the Dayton International Airport. He was found between two vehicles a day after the car was stolen. It wasn't until two days later that Kason was found, thanks to the heroic efforts of Shyann and Mecka.
It was a Christmas miracle for the Thomas family as their darling baby was found 175 miles away from home. What they were most grateful for was that he was found healthy and safe.
