Bride’s Daughter Interrupts Wedding Photoshoot and Asks Groom to Be Her Father Forever

A groom was moved to tears after his fiancée's daughter interrupted their wedding photoshoot to ask him a question that would change their lives forever.

There are many different ways to prepare for a wedding. Many couples choose not to see each other until the ceremony to add an element of surprise, while some choose to forego this tradition and, instead, opt for a first-look photo shoot where they get to see each other in their wedding attires before anybody else did.

Adam Hansen and his bride-to-be, Brianna, chose to go for a first-look photo shoot without Adam realizing that Brianna and her stepdaughter McKinley had a surprise up their sleeve. He had no idea that the surprise would leave him in tears.

A Unique First-Look Shoot

Before their wedding day, Adam and Brianna spoke about having two first-look shoots—one with Brianna and one with McKinley. When the day finally came, Adam didn't realize he'd be overcome with emotion as he turned around to see his future stepdaughter in front of him.

"You look so pretty," he told the six-year-old, squatting down to give her a hug. Before he could say anything else, McKinley handed him a white gift bag, which he thought was a normal gift.

Adam took the bag and saw inside a petition for adoption that Brianna had prepared. His eyes filled with tears as soon as he realized what the papers signified.

A Special Life-Changing Moment

"Do you know what this means?" he asked McKinley. "It's our paperwork so that I can be your dad forever. I would love to be your dad forever. I love you so much," Adam said in tears.

Throughout Brianna's relationship with Adam, he had always stepped up as a father figure to McKinley. To honor him, Brianna wanted to make it official. She said:

"If I'm becoming a Hansen today, it's only right that she becomes a Hansen too."

Adam admitted to both girls that he was not expecting the surprise. He also apologized to McKinley for crying and assured her it would be the only time.

However, he wound up in tears again after explaining to their wedding guests what transpired earlier that day, proving how much he loves the young girl.

The Unique Bond Between Adam and McKinley

Brianna fell pregnant when she was 20 and never heard from McKinley's biological dad again after giving birth. Adam came into their lives when McKinley was two, and from the get-go, their bond was already remarkable.

At some point during Adam and Brianna's relationship, they had to spend two-and-a-half years apart after Adam took a job in Florida. With Brianna and McKinley in Chicago, they would have video call dates with Adam and even fly all the way to Florida to get a glimpse of what life would be like as a family.

Adam had been a father figure to McKinley for as long as she could remember, and Brianna knew it was only right to give them that special moment on their wedding day. In fact, Adam already asked in the past if he could one day adopt McKinley and legally make her his own child.

A Testament of True Love

Although Brianna knew the first-look moment between Adam and McKinley would be special, she didn't expect her then-groom-to-be to react the way he did. "His reaction really confirmed how much he truly loves her as his own," she gushed. This made her even more excited to marry him.

A month after their wedding, Brianna gave her Instagram followers an update on their new life as a family. She couldn't help but say how proud she was of Adam for being an "amazing man and father."

Before ending her post, she revealed how since the beginning of her relationship with Adam, he and her daughter had a unique bond. "It was like their souls recognized each other. I believe she came into this world with the title of Dad left blank for the sole purpose of Adam filling it," she wrote.
