Bailey Deluca Baio Is Now a Teen after Rare Disorder Misdiagnosis as a Child
Bailey Deluca Baio, the daughter of actor Scott Baio best known for his roles in "Happy Days" and "See Dad Run," is growing up fast after a health scare in early childhood.
Bailey Deluca Baio was born into a famous family and became a celebrity as a baby. She is the daughter of iconic child star Scott Baio and his wife stunt woman and body double Renee Sloan Baio.
Her dad was a famous bachelor, dating Hollywood beauties and never settling down until he met Bailey Deluca Baio's mom. But the beginning of Bailey Deluca Baio's life was haunted by a tragedy and the possibility of a potentially life-threatening condition.

Bailey Deluca Baio's father, Scott Baio, was a child star and became famous for his role in the iconic TV series "Happy Days," where he costarred with Henry Winkler, and the 1976 movie, "Bugsy Malone," with Academy Award winner and fellow child star Jodie Foster, who is now also a parent to two sons.
Her mother, Renee Sloan, was a stunt woman, actress, and body double in the "Baywatch" hit series. The two met at a party at Hugh Hefner's notorious Playboy Mansion, and for Scott, it was love at first sight.
Renee had been carrying twins during her pregnancy with Bailey, and her sibling, who died 11 weeks into the gestation, had suffered from GA1.
The couple got engaged and delighted fans by announcing the birth of their daughter Bailey Deluca Baio on December 2, 2007. Renee confirmed the delivery and revealed that their little girl was a blue-eyed blond like Scott.

Bailey Deluca Baio Had a Health Scare Days After Her Birth
Bailey was delivered prematurely through a C-section, but just days after her birth, her parents were shocked by the news that doctors believed the baby was suffering from a rare disorder, GA1. Scott shared:
"We took her home from the hospital and five days later we got a call back saying, 'You have to bring your daughter in for more tests.'"
The first test results were devastating. Bailey had tested positive for glutaric acidemia type I, a rare metabolic disorder that can cause damage to the body and brain of the afflicted. To confirm the diagnosis, doctors had to do a muscle biopsy.

Bailey Deluca Baio Lost Her Unborn Twin Who Had the Rare Disorder
Scott and Renee waited three agonizing months before the doctors delivered the news: Bailey didn't have GA1 but is a carrier of the disorder. Renee had been carrying twins during her pregnancy with Bailey, and her sibling, who died 11 weeks into the gestation, had suffered from GA1.
The loss of their unborn baby, and the fear they had felt when they believed Bailey was ill, inspired the Baios to create the Bailey Baio Angel Foundation to raise awareness about GA1 and offer support to families dealing with the disorder.
