Redmond Gerard's Siblings are Talented in Their Own Ways
Olympic snowboarding champion Redmond Gerard was inspired to get into the sport by his brothers, who also had a passion for it when they were younger. However, many of them did not pursue it further.
Redmond is one of eight children of Conrad and Jen Conrad. He is also one of the youngest, as most of his siblings are older than him, including his famous cooking sister, Tieghan, plus brothers Trevor, Brendan, Creighton, and Malachai.
The siblings were instrumental in getting their brother to recognize his talents and played a role in getting him to the Olympics. However, many siblings have gone on to follow their paths, although some still have a linkage to snowboarding.
Redmond Gerard Shared His Love of Snowboarding with His Siblings
Redmond's journey to the Olympics started when he was two or three. That was when he began snowboarding at a ski resort in Ohio called Boston Mills. He was not the first in the family to take up the sport. His older brother, Trevor, got onto the snow first, leading to a domino effect among the brothers.
Initially, Trevor was joined by his younger brothers Creighton and Brendan, who had also fallen in love with the sport. The boy's strong interest in the sport also excited Conrad and Jen. Eventually, Red, who was trying to do whatever his older brothers were doing, got in on the act, and his family was impressed.
Trevor was the one who initially realized his brother's talents and told Jen about it. After a while, Redmond was entered into various competitions, but he seemed more interested in the fun of the sport than getting onto the podium. His talents in the sport developed from chasing his older brothers around the mountain.
About five years later, the family moved from Cleveland, a popular snowboarding area, to Breckenridge, Colorado, which had more outdoor activities opportunities. Redmond's talents became apparent shortly after they arrived, and the future star began dreaming about the Olympics.
Redmond Gerard's 3 Brothers Did Not Build a Career in Snowboarding
Redmond seems to have been very close to his older brother, Malachi, who is five years older than him. Despite the age difference, the two brothers went on many adventures together, looking up to their older brothers, Brandon and Trevor.
Malachai dreamed of becoming a professional snowboarder, but his plans were shattered when he broke his pelvis. The injury was career-ending, and he needed a hip replacement. His time on the sidelines pushed him more into filmmaking which he later developed a strong passion for.
After completing high school in 2014, Malachi pursued a certificate in Digital Media. He graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in 2017. Since 2017, he has worked as a Video Producer for "Half Baked Harvest." He also keeps a keen interest in winter sports and makes videos about them.
Trevor, the first of the Gerard snowboarders, also did not build a career in the sport. Instead, he pursued Marketing and Business Management, skills he got higher education certificates from Ohio University and the Metropolitan State University of Denver, respectively.
That has been followed by an extensive professional career in those fields, including working as an Event Manager for Red Bull for two years. Currently, he is listed to be involved in three jobs. The first is Team Manager at Signal Snowboards, then Social Media Manager for his brother. However, Trevor leads a private life.
Like his two non-celebrity brothers, Creighton Gerard did not go into sports. He studied Criminal Justice at Marshall University, West Virginia. It is not clear what he does in life, but from his Instagram, one can tell that he is a family man and enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
Brendan Gerard Is Redmond's Only Brother Who Is Very into Snowboarding
Joining Redmond as the only other snowboarder among the brothers now is Brendan. Snowboarding is one of the things he makes a living out of, but he is also a well-traveled man. He has traveled to many places worldwide, including Europe, China, Belize, Guatemala, Canada, and Thailand.
The book contains 120 recipes, many of which were made while she was cooking for her family during the lockdown.
There was a cause for celebration for the Gerards in 2019 as Brandon tied the knot with his lovely bride, Lyndsie. The wedding was well documented by a professional photographer who captured all the emotional moments between family members. Three years later, the couple welcomed a new member to the family.
Tieghan Gerard Has Had Success in Cooking
Although Redmond has many brothers, they don't make up the whole family. The Olympian also has an older sister, Tieghan. She is passionate about cooking and has been very successful at it, as seen through her cooking blog, "Half Baked Harvest."
She says that coming from a big family, a family of ten to be specific, there was always a need for a big meal, and to help get the food ready as quickly as possible, she had to help with making it, and that's how she got into cooking. With time, she began to enjoy and became the full-time family cook, capturing the moments in photos.
She was busy doing a book tour for her second cookbook when the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020 but being stuck indoors did not ruin her spirit as she continued to show her cooking through live streaming. The recipes from the pandemic were turned into her book, "Half Baked Harvest Every Day."
The book contains 120 recipes, many of which were made while she was cooking for her family during the lockdown. Although she conceded that each sibling has their own taste, the family members are fans of her penne alla vodka with some spicy pesto and Italian chicken or sausage.
Redmond's Younger Siblings
At the end of 2008, Redmond had a younger sister named Asher. The young Gerard princess has been close to her brothers since childhood, and they immensely love her.
The various social media accounts of family members are filled with photos of the little girl, especially from their mother, Jen, and brother Creighton who calls her one of his favorite two sisters.
In 2020, two years after Redmond won gold at the 2018 winter Olympics with teammate Jessie Diggins, the Gerard family welcomed another member. They adopted a very young but happy-looking Oslo, James Gerard.
Oslo quickly experienced the love in the Gerard family and can be seen in social media pictures with his siblings. Older sister Asher and brother Creighton seem to be in love with their toddler, who brought the number of the Gerard brood to eight.
