Widow Susan Lucci, 76, Looks Like She's Aging 'In Reverse' in Pic after Being on the Verge of Death
- Susan Lucci, known as Erica Kane from "All My Children,” beat heart disease being on the edge of life and death.
- The actress lost her husband of 53 years months after her last surgery.
- At 76, she looks like she never ages and enjoys being a grandma.
Susan Lucci is a legend of television, having starred in shows like "Hot in Cleveland," "Hope & Faith," and "Devious Maids." Yet her most famous role is as Erica Kane in the daytime soap opera "All My Children."
While her extensive career has kept her busy throughout her years in Hollywood, she always made time for her family. Unfortunately, Lucci and her family have often been faced with heartache.

Lucci spent 41 years playing the role of Erica Kane on "All My Children." However, in 2009 there were reports that the show was becoming too expensive, and by 2011 the show had its final season.
After playing the role for over four decades and becoming used to going to work to film, it was difficult for Lucci. She admitted:
"That was a very bitter pill to swallow, and we all went into a mourning period, disbelief and denial and anger.”

However, with the help of her friends, family, and loving husband, Lucci overcame the loss. She was once again plunged into darkness in 2018 when she began having severe chest pains.
Lucci was taken to the ER, where they told her she had a 95 percent blockage in her main artery and a 75 percent blockage in the adjacent artery. The soap star was immediately operated on. The surgery removed the blockages and placed two stents in her heart.
Nurses told her that if she had not gone to the ER when she did, she would have had a heart attack known as "the Widowmaker.” Her condition was severe, but Lucci did not know where it came from.

The actress assumed she was in good health as she had never been told otherwise, but soon found out that the calcium buildup in her arteries was an inherited trait from her father's side of the family.
Lucci's mother lived to 104, so she thought she would be in the same physical condition as her mother. She knew she had a calcium buildup issue but was unaware of the possibly fatal results.
She mentioned that she had always been told that heart disease was what killed most women, but until it happened to her, Lucci largely ignored people's warnings. Now she knows better.

The actress joked that her friends' husbands were concerned for their own well-being because they did not live as healthily as she did, and they could be ill without knowing it, too.
She shared that she hoped many others would also decide to check their health once they heard her story because heart disease cannot be easily picked up, with Lucci's cardiologist confirming that not even she looked like a heart patient.

In January 2022, Lucci again felt the chest pain and returned to the ER, where they found a 90 percent block in one of her arteries and inserted another stent. Her husband helped her recover from the surgery.
How Did Lucci Become a Widow Months After Surgery?
Lucci was married to Helmut Huber for 53 years before he passed away last year. Her husband's death crushed Lucci. She lamented:
"After that, nothing seemed important, my health or anything else. I didn't care about anything else."

The actress said that her healing journey had been an awful process, but she is surrounded by people who love and support her consistently. Huber passed away after suffering a stroke.
Months after he had the stroke and ultimately passed away, Lucci spoke fondly of her husband, saying he always supported her career and, indeed, was her biggest fan, even though she had to kiss so many other men for her career.
However, when Lucci lost her husband, she could no longer find joy in things and even said she had forgotten what she loved to do because she was so overcome by the grief she felt.
The star began doing things unlike her, like canceling plans and considering retiring because she could not bear the thought of being on stage or a set, knowing her husband was gone.
Now, Lucci says that through gratitude and God, she has found a way to become "half a person" again and is working her way up to feeling like her old self by recognizing all the good she still has in her life.
Does 76-Year-Old Grandma Lucci Really Ever Age?
One of the things that have kept her going is her children and grandchildren. She loves being a grandmother and tries to focus on her grandchildren as much as possible when she feels heartbroken.
Although she is 76, Lucci says: "I don't feel my age." She mentioned she had learned that she should not fixate on her age. Instead, she focuses on her children and her grandchildren. When talking about her grandchildren, she joked:
"I'm trying to spoil them. I have to follow the desires of their parents… but I have plans."
Lucci does not feel 76, and her fans don't think she looks a day over 21. Recently, her fans gushed about how good she looked in an Instagram post she shared showing off her beautiful outfit and jewelry.
The actress posted a close-up photo of herself on Instagram yesterday, showing her beautiful black and white outfit, which she paired with gorgeous gold jewelry to match the buttons on her top.
She beamed at the camera with minimal makeup on, and fans praised her for her stunning looks in the comments. Tom D'Angora, an Emmy-nominated producer and director, effused:
"You age in reverse."
Another user told Lucci: "You never age!" Another called her a "timeless beauty.” Many users said Lucci looks the same in the 2020s as she did in the 1990s and that they had loved her all that time. She has undoubtedly built an adoring fan base.
