Drew Barrymore Shares Throwback Photos with Adam Sandler Who ‘Changed' Her with His Comedy
Drew Barrymore gave her movie-soulmate Adam Sandler a shout-out in her 'Sunday Buffet' Instagram carousel on March 19, 2023. She commented promisingly about a new project to the media that same day.
Adam Sandler's three-time romantic co-star, Drew Barrymore, credited him with changing her "and the world with his comedy." One popular comment read,"We need a new movie!!!!" A fan said, "I love all your movies together, but my favorite is Blended."
A movie buff thanked them for being her favorite rom-com duo, "You two have such great chemistry on camera." Another echoed, "You're still his best on-screen partner," with one commenter taking it further by asking, "Drew, you love him; why wasn't it you two who ended up."
Drew Barrymore Has Been Vocal about Wanting to Do Another Movie with Adam Sandler
Sandler rode with Barrymore for "Drewber," a segment of her eponymous talk show, in December last year. She asked him to choose one film to represent his body of work. Without thinking too hard, he named their first collaboration in 1998 "The Wedding Singer."
"Blended" will always be dear to her because she and then-husband Will Kopelman "made Frankie on that film."
They followed their classic 90s romantic comedy with "50 First Dates" in 2004 and made "Blended" in 2014. With a film every decade since the 1990s, the request for a new one often comes up. The actress complied on the sidelines of the Kennedy Center recognizing Sandler with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor this Sunday.
Drew Barrymore teased that they were "actively seeking" a new project. She said that they did not want to make something different just for the sake of it, that they worked hard at doing a project that is meaningful to them and told from a male and female perspective:
"It's like an alchemy, you know? And it'll be a little of this, a little of that. I will say this: Adam and I seem to really know it when we know it. And we're like, 'This is it.'"

She told PEOPLE at the end of 2022 that "Blended" will always be dear to her because she and then-husband Will Kopelman "made Frankie on that film."
Adam Sandler "was the only person on the planet who could have gotten" Barrymore to film on location in Africa with her 8-month-old Olive. Though "terrified" and "overwhelmed," the actress felt safe bringing her baby on set because of the "family man."
