Martin Truex's Longtime Relationship with Sherry Pollex Appears to Be Over

Sherry Pollex is not Martin Truex Jr.'s wife, and although they have been in a relationship for over a decade, their romance is over. At the end of January 2023, the NASCAR driver made the announcement. The news of their breakup has left fans shocked and saddened, and many wonder what could have caused the split.

Martin Truex Jr. is a professional race car driver in the NASCAR Cup Series. He began racing at an early age, worked his way up the ranks of stock car racing, and eventually made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2004.

In an interview in April 2020, Truex and Pollex revealed they had a new member in their family. They had adopted a five-month-old yellow Labrador Retriever from Chicago.

The dog named Charlee was introduced to the world on the NASCAR on Fox Facebook page during their chat with Lindsay Czarniak. They also revealed that Charlee was being trained to become a therapy dog, and they could not wait to take her to the children's hospital at Christmas.

Sherry Got Her Diagnosis at 35 Years Old

Pollex received her ovarian cancer diagnosis at 35, which shocked her and her loved ones. Despite the difficult news, she remained optimistic and committed to fighting the disease with the support of her family and medical team.

Five days after her diagnosis, she had a debulking surgery to remove as much of a tumor as possible before starting chemotherapy. The surgery lasted seven hours, and for 17 months following the surgery, she underwent chemotherapy.

Like Kathy Bates, who once received the same diagnosis, Pollex is a survivor. She revealed that her diagnosis also humbled her as she said:

"You wake up every day staring death right in the face. If that doesn't scare you, I don't know what will!"

However, even as chemotherapy made her lose her healthy weight, tastebuds, appetite, hair, and feelings of immortality, she grew emotionally. She became a source of inspiration to many as she shared her journey and spoke openly about her experiences with cancer.

Sherry's Partner Martin Was Motivated by Her Fight with Cancer

Pollex was never alone in her fight with her cancer. Even though she was afraid, she had her longtime partner, Truex, with her. Her resolve not to give up also motivated him to fight with her.

Despite being on the sick bed, she never wanted her partner to stop driving as his racing made her happy as she watched from home. She revealed that watching him race was good for her soul.

They Reportedly Decided to Part Ways This Year

Truex and Pollex's relationship has been a source of inspiration for many, as they have faced adversity with grace and love. However, toward the end of January 2023, he reportedly shared a statement on his Instagram Story that they had decided to go their separate ways.

Based on the reports, he remarked that he would continuously support her without further commenting on their decision. After 18 years together, fans who had followed the couple's journey were shocked by the announcement.
