Tony Bennett wore a forest green Adidas sweatsuit in a photo posted on his final Easter Sunday. The late star had posted a sweet anniversary post for his wife last month.
The legend held his dog Happy in rabbit ears, joking that he "stumbled upon a familiar Easter Bunny in the heart of Central Park." "I am spending my Easter morning listening to your music," singer Arlene Murray commented on the March 9, 2023.
"Beautiful man! We love you, always and forever!" a fan wrote. "Looking good, sir," an Instagram user said, backed up by a second, "Looking like a legend. Happy Easter." A third wrote, "I love u, Mr. Tony Bennett !! Forever young."
Another complimented the "wonderful song" tagged in the post, "The Good Life," adding, "You are cuter every day." Bennett and Happy were regular faces in Central Park, New York City, as they lived in a 15th-floor apartment on the famous patch of urban greeny's southern border.
Tony Bennett passed away on Friday morning, July 21, 2023. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in the mid-2010s.
Exactly one month ago, on June 21, the late legend celebrated his wedding anniversary with Crow. A photo of them cutting their wedding cake was captioned, "Sending all my love to my wife Susan on our anniversary today."
His wife and primary caregiver, Susan Crow, and son Danny Bennett, who is also his manager, had to decide to make the news of his diagnosis public without his input as the Grammy winner did not grasp the degenerative condition, per AARP.
The star's daughter, singer Antonia Bennett told a Cleveland radio station that music remained a part of his life after his Alzheimer's diagnosis, explaining that when prompted, "he does what he's asked," going over his catalog with his piano player a few days a week.
For Love Your Pet Day in February, he shared a photo of when his furry companion "took" him over to the park bench endowed in his name by Sony Music Entertainment. He marked the first day of Spring by uploading an old snap with Happy in Central Park, saying it's "a wonderful place to visit and paint!"
Bennett's art was not limited to the airwaves; he also expressed himself through paintings and sketches. His favorite piece of technology was the drawing pencil in he kept in his jacket pocket.
The artist captioned an illustration of his protégé Lady Gaga in a June 2022 post in part, "Was so glad I had it with me when I did this sketch of 'Lady' during the recording of our album 'LOVE FOR SALE.'"
