Jan Smithers, a.k.a. Bailey Quarters from the sitcom "WKRP Cincinnatti," is now a former actress after finding success in the show.

Smithers first rose to prominence after being one of the six teenagers profiled for Newsweek in 1966. After being spotted at a beach, she graced the cover of Newsweek's teen issue.

Following that experience, several Hollywood agents contacted her for representation. Since then, she became a household name after appearing in the show, which aired from 1978 to 1982.

In a 2015 interview, Smithers was reported to be residing in Southern California and staying away from the limelight. She revealed at the time:

"People don't even know I'm an actor! If I let them know, they're so surprised. I'm very private about my personal life."

When asked if her life had turned out how she imagined it, she laughed and said, "No! Because of Newsweek magazine, I didn't have a chance to imagine how it would come out!"

Nowadays, Smithers' life is all about spirituality, meditation, and the environment. She believes helping others could help create healing in society, and when asked what advice she could give to youngsters, she said, "Read Autobiography of a Yogi!"

Smithers has traveled to India with a charitable group. Upon arrival, she was shocked to witness the hardships people there faced. Of those people, some greatly impacted her.

That is when she realized she could change lives and spent 16 years in India, where she learned how to meditate. In turn, she evolved as an individual and came out of her shell. The Los Angeles native also used her fame to support causes such as "no nukes" and solar energy.

Despite leaving the spotlight, Smithers appeared on social media in March 2023. A fan shared a selfie featuring the veteran star on Facebook, who wore a blue shirt and was makeup-free with her long blonde locks.

The said individual noted Smithers' looks have been compared to her former co-star, Loni Anderson, who played Jennifer Marlowe on "WKRP Cincinnatti."

Facebook users commented on the post and praised the Hollywood star for her beauty as she showed off her wrinkles, with one person writing, "Looking good. I thought Jan was hotter than Loni, just me." While another user said in agreement, "Honestly, it's not just you." And a third user wrote, "Me too."

Someone else stated, "Great picture," while a fifth individual revealed an interesting detail: "I named my daughter after her character. Bailey Cerny."

Smithers is now a mother of one, and when she fell pregnant with her only child, her life changed significantly, and she made some important decisions.

How Did Smithers Meet James Brolin & Why Didn't Their Marriage Work?

Smithers shares her daughter Molly with her former husband, actor James Brolin. The pair met on the set of an '80s prime-time drama "Hotel."

He asked whether she was nervous when they were about to shoot a scene together. Despite knowing her lines, she was not at all.

That made her think he was uneasy about the experience, and it dawned on her that Brolin was genuine. That said, their romance developed from being sincere.

Smithers and Brolin walked down the aisle back in 1986, and they welcomed their daughter, Molly, a year later in 1987.

After learning she was expecting her first child, the television star planned on taking six months off from work. Smithers later revealed:

"I loved having a career, but when I met Molly, I just looked at her and told her, 'You need me.' And she looked at me so innocently. I thought, 'I have to stay! She changed my life. I really longed to be her mom."

However, while basking in the joy of being a mother, her marriage to Brolin started falling apart. Although they had a great union, Smithers divulged they began to drift apart due to his constant work trips.

The "Mr. Nice Guy" star shared the California native used to spend months away from home. In addition, she also wanted a life away from the prying eyes of Hollywood. Smithers explained:

"I had Molly and wanted to be in the country and get away from that world. I just wanted a different life, and we ended up getting divorced."

Smithers and Brolin officially split in 1995 after nine years of marriage. She became a stepmother to his sons, Josh and Jess Brolin, from a previous marriage when they wed.

The two-time Golden Globe Award winner got hitched again to singer and actress Barbara Streisand in 1998. He, too, gained a stepson when he married the mother of one, whose son is Jason Gould, from her previous marriage.

How Does Smithers' Daughter Look Now & What Relationship Does She Have With Dad?

The former couple's daughter is now 36 years old and seems to have a child of her own. Molly shared an adorable photo of a baby on her Instagram Story once and captioned it saying an Easter Bunny left a gift at their door.

Molly is now a producer, and aside from that, she is also a jewelry designer and showcases her work on her website, including flower earrings and a metal replica of a Hibiscus flower.

The brunette grew up in California and graduated from high school there. She later moved to Boston to attend the Berkeley College of Music, where she earned a degree.

Like her parents, she joined Hollywood and worked as a production assistant. She then worked on the movie, "Men in Black 3," and "John Mulaney: New in Town."

Her most significant gig was being an assistant producer on a Hallmark TV film called "Royal Hearts," which her famous father starred in and directed.

In a February 2021 interview, Brolin revealed his daughter had been an associate producer on three of his movies. Though they were low-budget, he liked that he could spin things around so she could assist. Moreover, he praised her for being a good jewelry designer and craftsperson.

Molly has a great relationship with her award-winning father, whom she calls "Daddy." He once shared a photo of them having fun together on social media.

In a June 2018 Instagram post, Brolin gushed about his brood and described them as a "gift." The doting dad posted a snap of him and Molly sitting outdoors and penned, "Absolutely LOVED spending this perfect day with my daughter. Life is too good!"
