Ashleigh Murray was born in January 1988 in Missouri. She graduated in 2009 from the New York Conservatory of Dramatic Arts. While still in college, Murray took part in an off-Broadway production of "Child of the Movement," based on a true story. From there, Murray began appearing in commercials and eventually landed roles in movies and TV shows.
Her most famous role was singer-songwriter Josie McCoy in the drama series "Riverdale," playing alongside Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, KJ Apa, and Madelaine Petsch. However, the actress exited the show after starring in 40 episodes, following another leading role in the comedy-drama "Katy Keene."
The series follows the story of a group of aspiring artists residing in New York City, trying to make their dreams come true. Fashion designer Katy Keene(Lucy Hale) meets her roommate Josie McCoy(Ashleigh Murray), a talented singer hoping to chase her musical dreams.
They eventually become friends, but they find themselves surrounded by people with whom they share the same interests, including the weird socialite Pepper Smith(Julia Chan) and their other roommate and Broadway-bound performer Jorge Lopez who plays alongside Ginger Lopez ( Jonny Beauchamp)
While their journey to the top is filled with obstacles, they aim to stop at nothing to see their names shine. The series "Katy Keen" is produced by "Riverdale" creator and executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
