Pregnant Da Brat Reveals She & Wife Jesseca Dupart Chose a White Sperm Donor - Here’s Why
Da Brat and Jesseca "Judy" Dupart have shared many intimate details about their pregnancy. In a recent sneak peek of season three, the duo certainly put the real in reality television.
When Da Brat and her wife Jesseca Dupart went to the sperm bank to select the donor that would effectively provide 50 percent of their future baby's DNA, they were met with a sad reality.
Due to a lack of Black donors and Dupart's genetic screening, they were left with only one suitable Black candidate out of their 300 possible candidates. The one Black donor, unfortunately, "looked like Jiminy Cricket," the rapper quipped.
Da Brat said in the "Brat Loves Judy" teaser that the person they chose "definitely wasn't Black" but had the genetic traits that they hoped for.
The couple is going on Instagram Live later today to share more about their IVF journey. The generous personalities plan to pay $10,000 toward one person's fertility treatment, per The Root.
For Dupart, dispelling many fertility myths surrounding older expectant mothers is essential. Her wife turned 49 this month, and she is 40.
Viewers will get a preview of what kind of parents the married pair will be this season when Dupart's son moves in with them. On their path to getting a baby, Da Brat told HollywoodLife this week ahead of the show's return to We TV last night:
"The journey hasn't been easy, but we're blessed to be where we are. We've definitely had some struggles and some ups and downs."
The idea to have a baby together began as a joke after they tied the knot in February 2022. Dupart said in an interview that their marketing tag for their hair care collaboration, "We're extending our family!" had such a positive impact on fans that they gave serious consideration.
Jesseca Dupart, already a mother of three, wanted her partner to experience carrying a child. The couple both experienced medical issues during the process. Da Brat sadly had a miscarriage last year, and Dupart had complications during the egg retrieval.
The pregnancy has affected the "Sittin' On Top Of The World" star's emotional state in a significant way. One of her concerns is that the child would not have a playmate.
The CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products assured Da Brat that they have more options to extend their family further and have discussed using a surrogate.
