Da Brat Displays Her Baby Bump Cradled by Wife Jesseca after Child’s Gender Reveal
Da Brat and her wife Jesseca Harris-Dupart attended the 2023 ESSENCE Wellness House on Sunday, still sporting their pink and blue hairdos from their baby's gender reveal from the day before. The CEO of Kaleidoscope Hair Products sweetly cradles the rapper's pregnant belly in the photos.
Jesseca Harris-Dupart uploaded their bright looks from the ESSENCE event on March 27, 2023, captioned, "Found my person to LOVE, share forever with, and be as weird as we wanna be." She tweeted, "Watching my wife experience pregnancy and fall in love with the journey is priceless."
Da Brat's baby is a boy! The gender reveal this past weekend was awash with pink and blue balloons. The couple clung to each other as a confetti cannon blasted bits of blue in the air to wholehearted cheers.
Da Brat Initially Thought Pregnancy Wasn't 'in the Cards' for Her
Content with her full life and a great career, the "That's What I'm Looking For" rapper did not expect to have children of her own. She told PEOPLE in February, "I just thought it wasn't in the cards for me."
The Chicago native admits that she now cries for everything, including the crowning of a new "American" Idol winner.
After getting married last year, a joke about "extending their family," which referred to their hair product collaboration, made the couple realize they wanted to have a child together.
Jesseca Harris-Dupart, who already has three kids from a previous relationship, wanted her wife to have the experience as "she is so nurturing." It was not a smooth ride, Harris-Dupart experienced health complications during the egg retrieval, and the rapper suffered a miscarriage. Da Brat said:
"I had never been so excited about something that I didn't even know I wanted. I fell in love with the idea, and then it was all snatched away from me."
Fortunately, they had enough viable eggs left to try again successfully. During her second trimester, Da Brat said in an interview that she was not nauseous or had cravings but was exhausted. The Chicago native admits that she now cries for everything, including the crowning of a new "American Idol" winner.
Da Brat and Harris-Dupart tied the knot on February 2, 2022, in a fairytale-inspired ceremony done in saturated colors. The rapper said in her vows that she lost all her swag the first day they met. The third season of their reality show "Brat Loves Judy" is out on April 27.
