Da Brat's Father Was a Wealthy Businessman Who Never Married Her Mom
David was a successful businessman who dated Da Brat's mom. The rapper's mother had a simple job as a city bus driver. David knew how to do business and was a well-established entrepreneur who lent millions and had hundreds of business contacts.
Da Brat was born to David and Beverly Calloway on April 14, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois. Da Brat grew up in two different homes since her parents were never married.

David Ray McCoy Met His Demise at the Hands of His Then-Girlfriend
Da Brat's father met his untimely death aged 52. David was killed by his then-long-term girlfriend, Sheila Daniels, and her brother. David's death shocked many of his business associates as he spoke fondly of Daniels, and the two had been together for over ten years.
Donald Roebuck, who owned Downtown Adjusting Services Inc—a business that David helped him start, was in disbelief after learning about his demise. He said that David provided Daniels with everything she wanted and was shocked to learn she had taken his life.

According to the police, Daniels confessed how she and her brother fired gunshots at David following a heated argument over a high electricity bill. The siblings were arraigned in court and charged with murder.
Da Brat Rarely Talks about Her Father
It is unclear how Da Brat and her father's relationship was as she rarely talks about him. In 2021, the 48-year-old celebrated father's day, but she honored her wife, Jesseca Dupart, instead and hoped to meet Jesseca's dad.
The "Ghetto Love" singer had planned a special treat for Jesseca, and she shared a video of her wife unwrapping the gifts she had bought for her. Alongside the video, she penned down a sweet message to her partner that read:
"I know it's definitely different for her to get a Father's Day gift, but there is nothing ordinary about our love. I had never gotten the pleasure or the honor to meet my baby's Dad, Mr. Jesse A. Dupart."
Da Brat wrote about how much she hears amazing stories about how loving and hardworking Judy's father was and wished she would have had the chance to meet him.
Occasionally, Da Brat pays tributes to her mother as well but seemingly goes silent when it comes to her father. In 2017, she wrote a sweet message on her Facebook page, wishing her mother a happy birthday. On the other hand, In 2020, Da Brat's half-sister LisaRaye remembered David during father's day in a touching Instagram post.
LisaRaye wrote about the good moments she shared with her father and how he treated her like a princess. She also said that her father would be proud of the milestones she had made after she adopted his business sense.
LisaRaye is famously known for her role as Keisha Greene in the 2011 comedy/drama series "Single Ladies," in which she starred alongside Stacey Dash and Damien Dante Wayans, one of Marlon Wayans's siblings.
