"He is my teacher," the loving mother confessed after raising her son. "From him, I get and give unconditional love."
Like most mothers, Newmar loves her "adorable" only child. Despite having learning difficulties, Smith became an artist and displayed his work at an exhibition in California in 2016.
While talking about her son in an interview, Newmar requested parents of kids with Down syndrome not to "feel like they have an afflicted child." She admitted having Smith in her life helped her a lot.

Newmar's outdoor space has different kinds of plants that are a treat for the eyes. Within it are four secret gardens that add to the property's beauty.
While discussing her garden in an interview, Newmar reflected on her life. She admitted that life is all about working on yourself, similar to working on a garden, explaining:
"You can bury a lot of troubles while you're digging in the dirt."
On March 16, 2023, Newmar posted a photo of herself with D'Andre Michael and Phillip Nathaniel from Danne King's 80th birthday party.
