Mom Whose Disabled Daughter 'Fades Away' Hits Back after Fraud Accusations: 'I Just Want My Kids to Be Happy'
Helen Mathers, a devoted mother, has been working tirelessly to provide the best possible care for her daughter Libby, who has been facing numerous health challenges. Despite her best efforts to raise funds for her daughter's wellbeing, Helen has been met with accusations of deceit and malice. However, she has refused to stay silent and has responded exhaustively to all her detractors.
Libby's journey began when she was born extremely premature at only 25 weeks gestation, weighing less than a kilogram. Despite a severe infection and the medical professionals predicting little to no chance of survival, the determined youngster defied the odds and pulled through.
A few years ago, despite her condition, Libby, who suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy, was able to walk, run, jump, and climb. However, her condition has since deteriorated, and she is undergoing constant tests to determine the root of her illness.
Helen has been seeking assistance to raise $50,000 through a GoFundMe page, which is only half of what she estimates it will cost to build a downstairs shower and bedroom for Libby. Her goal is to provide Libby with as much comfort as possible during her struggles. She has also expressed her hopes to take Libby to Lapland and Disneyland to create memories with her.
However, instead of support and encouragement, Helen faced criticism and was accused of fraudulent behavior. She has been subjected to hurtful comments and allegations. In response, she expressed her frustration stating, "I'm tired and I just want my kids to be happy. These people are trying to break me and my children and I refuse to be broken, my kids need me, they are innocent."
Helen confirms that Libby is on an "insane" amount of medication and has five doctors working on her case. Despite the continuous research Helen carries out, she is still left with little knowledge of how to help Libby further. She says, "Watching your daughter fade away in front of you is the most painful thing I have ever experienced and I feel powerless that I cannot help her."
Despite the criticism, family friends are holding fundraising events to aid Helen and Libby in their time of need. Many have expressed their support for the family on social media, acknowledging the difficulties they face and wishing them the best.
Fortunately, Helen has received offers from people willing to provide their services and materials for free or at cost price to reduce the total expenses. However, they cannot begin until they have sufficient funding and manpower.
"None of us know what the future holds for Libby. We don't know how long we have her for, it could be 5 years or 50. Please help to make her more comfortable in whatever time she has," says Helen. As of January 12, 2023, Libby is now losing the use of her right side.
Right now Helen and her daughter Libby are going through a tough time, and any support and assistance are greatly appreciated. Their story is a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
Sincerest best wishes and hopes to the little warrior. May she find the strength to overcome any obstacles that cross her path.
