Sasha Calle was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 7, 1995, and had an inborn passion for the arts. As a youngster, she enjoyed singing and dancing and loved putting on shows for her family because she had a flair for them, and her loved ones knew it.

She joined the entertainment industry in 2017, appearing as a Colombian Reporter in the sci-fi film short "18 Minutes." That year, she landed another minor role in the comedy miniseries, "Socially Awkward."

In 2018, Sasha appeared in several movie shorts including, "Rogue Tiger," "The White Shoes," "Final Stop," and "Deep Cuts." That year, she also landed her first significant role as Lola Rosales Abbott in the decades-old romantic drama "The Young and the Restless."

Between 2018 and 2021, Sasha shared the screen with Eric Braeden, Doug Davidson, and Kate Linder on the show. Portraying Lola brought a much-needed change in Sasha's life. Before she won the role, the actress could barely afford a living.

She and her mother struggled financially, which was often overwhelming for them. Sasha's childhood was full of its challenges, but it wasn't without its more-lighthearted moments, many of which included her Colombian mother.

Sasha Calle Is the First Latina Supergirl in the D.C. Universe

In February 2021, news broke that Sasha would portray the first Latina Supergirl in the upcoming D.C. film, "The Flash." She was chosen among over 400 actresses who auditioned for the part after director Andy Muschietti and his team felt she was "destined" to portray Kara Zor-El.

Sasha posted her reaction on Instagram, in a screen recording of her meeting with Andy when he told her she was cast. The 27-year-old was overwhelmed with joy that it moved her to tears.

Alongside the video, Sasha, who could not believe what was happening to her, took to the caption to thank her team and everyone that believed in her. She wrote:

"A Latina superhero?! On what planet?! Well, on this planet! What joy and what pride."

She also expressed her gratitude to her mother, writing, "I adore you with everything I have. You are an example of a superhero." She will share the screen with Hollywood heavyweights Ben Affleck, Ezra Miller, Michael Keaton, and many more; however, fans can also expect to see her in her production, which is currently in development.

Who are Sasha Calle's Parents?

Sasha's biological father is unknown, but her mother is Samira Calle. In a 2018 interview, the star revealed that she only lived with her mom, who "worked very hard" to make her happy. Several years after giving birth to Sasha, Samira welcomed her son, Jacob Calle.

The mom of two has a relatively active social media presence. At the time of this publication, her Instagram account boasted over 2,000 followers. Samira regularly shares glimpses of her life on her timeline, including photos and clips from trips and outings.

She sometimes shares sweet posts about her children and consistently supports her daughter as the new Supergirl. Samira even got a tattoo of the Supergirl logo and shared her new ink in October 2022.

Samira also appears to have a partner, Kevin Bloch, who is also active on social media; however, his Instagram page is not accessible to people not following him. At the time of this publication, though, his profile picture showed him and Samira posing for a mirror selfie.

Kevin also appeared on Samira's timeline. In June 2022, Samira captioned a picture of herself and Kevin dressed in evening attire, "Special night ❤️" That year, in August, the two enjoyed a boat ride in the ocean while on vacation.

It's unclear when Kevin entered the picture, but in her 2018 chat with Soap Opera Digest, Sasha shared many details about her upbringing. At ten years old, she and her mother abruptly moved to Colombia, where they stayed with her maternal family.

Although she thought the country was stunning, there was a language barrier, and it was one of her first challenges in a new home. Sasha could read and write Spanish but struggled to keep up with her relatives because they spoke it daily.

The education was also different, as she focused on 15 "more advanced" subjects instead of seven like in the U.S., meaning she had to spend most of her time studying. However, even with these new changes, Samira did her best to make Sasha happy.

Sasha recalled one Christmas when she woke up to an entire band set ready to use. Young Sasha was ecstatic, jumping from one instrument to another. She and Samira moved back to the U.S. two years after staying in Colombia, but their financial and living situation became more difficult.

Things took a less favorable turn during her first year in high school. "My mom was unemployed, and it was really hard for her, she wasn't really wanting to do a lot, so I started to challenge her," Sasha confessed.

Sasha started slacking in school, and it caught her principal's attention, who later assumed a father-figure role in her life; he supported her and helped her improve her grades. Samira eventually found employment, and things were better.

Although Samira initially advised her daughter to get a "real career," opportunities aligned quite well for Sasha. Her gratitude is unending as she celebrates her love for her mother. On Samira's birthday in July 2019, Sasha posted a sweet tribute, calling her mom the love of her life, who encouraged her to "soar higher each day."
