Doug Davidson Wed ‘Y&R’ Co-star 38 Years Ago & They Have 2 Kids - Meet the Actor’s Family
"The Young and the Restless" star Doug Davidson has been married to one of his soap opera co-stars for almost four decades. One of their kids is a talented musician, and the other looks just like him.
Emmy Award-winning actor Doug Davidson was cast as Paul Williams in "The Young and the Restless" in May 1978. He left the show in late 2020, making him the longest-serving cast member in the series' history.
Davidson admitted he was "done" because the show treated him like a "day player" even after portraying Paul for 43 years. The roles he will never be done with are those of father and husband, though. Take a look at Davidson's family and relationship.
DOUG DAVIDSON MEETING HIS WIFE
"The Young and the Restless" fans know that Davidson's character has walked down the aisle several times, but things are different in real life. He has only married once!
The lucky one is Cindy Fisher, an American actress who graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in California. She began her acting career in 1972 when she appeared in "The Waltons."

In 1977, she was cast as Patti Griffin in "Days of Our Lives." In the early 1980s, after landing other minor roles in made-for-TV films and series, Fisher portrayed Rebecca in "The Young and the Restless."
While Fisher had a short run in the famous soap opera, it was enough time to meet Davidson. He admitted his onscreen kiss with Fisher was one of the most memorable moments of working in the show. Davidson confessed:
"We were in a religious cult, and the leader had assigned Paul and Rebecca to procreate. We were pretty good friends before [the kiss]. Then we started dating."
INSIDE THE COUPLE'S RELATIONSHIP
Fisher and Davidson seemingly hit it off right away as they tied the knot in 1984. Although it's been almost four decades since they said "I do," they have not stopped gushing about each other.
[Davidson and Fisher's children] grew up into successful adults.
Their relationship also proved that opposites attract, especially after the actor revealed his wife was more cautious than him. Davidson added that it was one of the main things that kept him out of trouble most of his life.
Apart from that, he loves the water. Davidson majored in marine biology at Occidental College and enjoyed sailing when his schedule allowed it.
INSIDE DOUG DAVIDSON'S FATHERHOOD
Davidson and Fisher have two talented children, Calyssa and Caden. The actor pointed out that becoming a dad made him less career-focused as his family became his priority.
It is a change we commonly see in celebrities, and Davidson added that if everyone else concentrated mainly on their families, the country would be "a lot better."
Davidson made some life adjustments to help make his growing family work and have more time with them: he moved from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, California, in the early 1990s.
Davidson confessed it was a great city for himself and the rest of the family. Although Los Angeles was fantastic for his career as an actor, he found it "a little tough" to live.
Although his children are now adults, he has not stopped loving and feeling proud of them. In May 2021, Davidson posted a rare throwback photo that attracted much attention.
He appeared shirtless in a nursery sitting on a rocking chair and resting his feet on a footstool. Caden was just a baby, sleeping in his dad's arms. Calyssa was about three years old, and she was also resting on the footstool. Davison wrote in the caption:
"Seems like yesterday a thousand years ago."
MEETING DOUG DAVIDSON'S KIDS
Speaking of Davidson's children, they both grew up into successful adults. In Calyssa's case, she is an award-winning violinist and film composer who has performed in different cities worldwide.
She fell in love with music as a child and made her orchestral debut when she was 13. After that, Calyssa kept honing her skills and performed with famous orchestras in Europe and America.
[Davidson's family] reunited after seven years apart.
Davidson's daughter studied at the Colburn School of Performing Arts and was part of the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony for seven years before her solo career took off.
Calyssa also graduated with a bachelor's degree in Music and Violin Performance from London's Royal College of Music. After that, she completed a master's in Violin Performance and Composition for Screen.
As an adult musician, Calyssa has proven her worth. She took home the Leni Fe Bland Award and even participated in the music of "Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance," a Lifetime original film.
Her talent caught the eye of BBC producers, and she recorded a solo violin score for the series "The Story of China." She also created and recorded solo scores for a few other BBC documentaries.
Davidson and Fisher's youngest son, Caden, prefers to live his life away from the spotlight. His family respects his decision and rarely shares information about it. Judging by the actor's Instagram posts, Caden studied away from Los Angeles, too.
In August 2018, Davidson posted photos picking up his son from the airport and confessed in the caption that Calyssa would come back home a few days later for the "gathering of the clan."
When Calyssa arrived in Los Angeles, Davidson posted another photo of all family members and pointed out they reunited after seven years apart. The joy on their faces was impossible to hide.

Davidson is not the only "Young and the Restless" star who has been married for over three decades. Eric Braeden, known as Victor Newman, married Dale Russell in 1966, and they have been together since then.
Russell was born in June 1942 and is also an actress known for "Holiday in the Sun." She married Braeden in October 1966 and welcomed a son, Christian, who works as a writer and filmmaker. The "Young and the Restless" actors know the meaning of everlasting love!
