Kevin Costner’s Wife Refuses to Leave Their $145 Million Home Until He Complies With Her 'Demands'
- Kevin Costner claimed his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, refused to vacate one of his homes, hoping to twist his arm and force him to negotiate in her favor in their divorce.
- While the actor had taken the legal route to deal with the matter, he had already agreed to sell part of the property for a personal reason.
- His divorce with Baumgartner was quite similar to how his first one went, with him making one of the biggest payouts to his first wife.
On June 13, 2023, it was reported that Christine Baumgartner wasn't honoring the prenuptial (prenup) agreement terms for her marriage to actor Kevin Costner, 68. The star's estranged wife allegedly refused to pack her items and leave their home despite him reportedly giving her more than $1 million to find a new place.
Court documents said the actor's prenup gave Baumgartner 30 days to leave the home he owned when she filed for divorce on May 1, 2023. However, she still hasn't gone and doesn't seem to be budging.

Costner was asking the court to force her out because she shouldn't be allowed to stay there. He allegedly felt she was using her position as leverage to force him to agree to her differing "financial demands."

The celebrity claimed to have honored their prenup by already giving his wife $1.2 million and that the total he's coughed out amounted to $1.45 million. The legal document also noted how the star was willing to contribute $30,000 monthly for renting a house as part of child support responsibilities.

He showed how keen he was on her leaving his home, as he was also okay with taking out another $10,000 for Baumgartner's moving costs. Costner allegedly said he owned all three of their homes, and their 2004 prenup said she had to leave their home upon filing for divorce.
The filing reportedly surprised the actor, and now the standoff was making things worse. According to further reports, the $145 million home was already being assessed for a possible sale, showing how determined Costner was to do what he wished with the property.
Inspectors Have Already Been Spotted near Kevin's House
On June 14, 2023, Baumgartner, 49, was allegedly seen at the Carpinteria, California, beachfront compound. Property inspectors were also spotted on the same day at the premises, and it was believed they might've been there to help fulfill Costner's wish.

The Oscar Award-winner allegedly recently decided to mortgage part of the land so he could have funds for his upcoming movie franchise "Horizon." His estranged wife was seen departing from the California Bank of America's Montecito branch.
Baumgartner was dressed casually in a tie-dyed sweater with black leggings and matching sneakers. She was seen looking at a cell phone while leaving the bank.

She had her hair in a ponytail and wore a necklace and earrings for her public outing. Costner's wife also carried an expensive-looking purse as she got into a gray Range Rover heading back to the house she was meant to vacate. It also seemed the mother of three had an unidentified passenger for her outing.
In a previous interview, Costner revealed that he'd mortgaged 10 acres of the property in Santa Barbara, where he would build his last house, but it was a move he did without thinking clearly.

The star said the move had upset his accountant, but he was determined to do it because it was his life, and he believed in the idea behind selling the land and the story he wished to tell. Costner seemed to have bad luck regarding marriages, as his first one also ended badly.
Kevin's Previous Divorce Was One of the Most Expensive in Hollywood History
Costner got into his first marriage in 1978 when he married Cindy Silva after they met at California State University. The duo, married at the height of the actor's career, remained together for 16 years before their divorce in 1994 after having three children.

The "Dances With Wolves" star and Silva's celebrity divorce became one of the most expensive ones in history following rumors of his infidelity. Forbes said the actor's ex-wife was awarded $80 million in settlement fees.

Three years before the divorce, Costner made $50 million just from his acting. Some of the hit movies he starred in that helped him earn so much included "Bull Durham" and "Field of Dreams." Despite the infidelity rumors, John McInnes, a friend of the celebrity, revealed that another thing Silva didn't like during her marriage was when her husband did romantic scenes.

The star's ex-wife allegedly had an issue with the role he played in "No Way Out" before the movie's 1987 release. The architect said his friend's wife didn't like it when he appeared in "sexy roles" and gave him this ultimatum:
"'I've either got to quit doing them or quit the movie business."'

In 2012, Costner opened up about that divorce, noting how his faith had been shaken as no one wished for their marriage to end the way his did. The actor, who didn't anticipate history repeating itself, lamented how upon divorce, he would only see the people he loved the most - his children - only half as much and that it was a "huge loss."
The actor initially met his future second wife while still married to his first wife. At the time, he was rehearsing for the 1996 film, "Tin Cup," when he crossed paths with Baumgartner on a golf course.
However, the pair allegedly didn't have an affair behind Silva's back and only reconnected long after they'd divorced. They met again two years later -- four years after Costner's divorce.
Baumgartner, who's worked as a handbag designer and a model, started dating the actor in 1998 before marrying him on his 60-acre Aspen, Dunbar, Colorado ranch in 2004 and built a life together.
She and the "Yellowstone" actor welcomed three children, sons Cayden and Hayes, 16 and 14, and a daughter named Grace, 13.
