A deepwater robot has reached the wreckage of the Titanic on the Atlantic floor. The robot is on the lookout for Titan, a missing submarine that disappeared while en route to the famous decades-old wreckage.

Five people are stuck on board the Titan, including British billionaire Hamish Harding, OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, French navy veteran Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, 19.

The deepwater robot arrived at the wreck a few minutes before the missing submarine was predicted to have run out of oxygen.

A French research vessel, L'Atalante, also arrived at the search scene at around 2 a.m. GMT, which is 10 p.m. EST and midday Sydney.

L'Atalante, hosts Victor 6000, an unmanned remote-controlled robot sub that can go up to 20,000ft deep and will get to the Titanic's wreck at 12,500ft around two hours after being submerged in water.

Victor 6000 has arms that can cut cable and dislodge a trapped vessel. Victor 6000 can also put a wire on a stranded vessel. After the wire is fixed, a huge winch called a Flyaway Deep Ocean Salvage System can tug the trapped vessel for miles till it reaches the surface.

A ship called the Horizon Arctic has the Flyaway Deep Ocean Salvage System. It left Newfoundland on June 21, 2023, and is headed to the Titanic wreckage but will not arrive until later in the day on June 22, 2023.

The rescue team in charge of the Titan's search is putting in all effort to ensure the submarine is located and the five onboard are rescued alive, even as the clock ticks past oxygen supply time.

Oxygen on Missing Submarine Is Estimated to Have Run Out

The vital oxygen supply on the submarine was estimated to run out on June 22, 2023, at 12.08 p.m. GMT, which is 7.08 a.m. EST and 9.08 p.m. Sydney. So, at this time, the oxygen on the missing Titan could already be depleted.

Guillermo Sohnlein, who founded of OceanGate with Rush, believes that the five on board the Titan can still be found alive even after the clock has ticked past the oxygen supply time. He noted:

"'I'm certain that Stockton and the rest of the crew realized days ago that the best thing they can do to ensure their rescue is to extend the limits of those supplies by relaxing as much as possible."

Sohnlein said if all the five men in the Titan remained calm, then they could still be found alive past midday on June 22, 2023. However, he admitted that June 22, 2023, is a vital day in the mission to rescue them:

"I firmly believe that the time window available for their rescue is longer than what most people think. I continue to hold out hope for my friend and the rest of the crew."

As midday, June 22, 2023, approached, former Royal Navy Officer Chris Parry became pessimistic. According to Parry, there weren't any hopes left that the Titan crew could be found in time and alive.

Meanwhile, rescue efforts for the five on board the Titan have become more desperate. However, as much as the rescue efforts have so far yielded negative results, the world is still optimistic that the crew will be found alive.
