Besides being the "People's Princess," Princess Diana was well-loved for her clothing style. She was among the trendiest royals when it came to fashion and continues to be a style icon today.

Most of Diana's outfits are still used as fashion inspirations today. Although not always the exact same, several similar clothes sold online resemble hers.

Cycling Shorts and a Sweatshirt

An iconic look Diana often sported was matching cycling shorts with a sweatshirt and pairing them with shin-high socks and sneakers. In November 1995, she spoke at Chelsea Harbour Club, London, wearing a Virgin Atlantic sweatshirt and bright orange shorts.

Diana loved her sweatshirt, so much so that she wore it several times in public. Besides liking the top, she wore it several times in an attempt to devalue paparazzi shots of herself. The same Atlantic sweatshirt can be purchased through Etsy today.

Little Black Dress

Diana had several beautiful evening looks, but one that people remember was her little black dress at the Serpentine Gallery London in 1994. The outfit boasted off-shoulder sleeves with a chiffon train.

Although Diana liked colored clothing, she often enjoyed combinations of white and black suits, matching them with style and elegance.

The Christina Stambolian gown was dubbed her "revenge dress" as she wore it the same night Prince Charles admitted to having been unfaithful to her on national television.

Sweater, Jeans, and a Blazer

An iconic 80s style was a white sweatshirt with a red balloon printed in front from the British Lung Foundation. Diana famously paired this top with jeans and a blazer while at the Guards Polo Club with her son, Prince William.

Interestingly, the same sweatshirt can still be bought online through the Asthma and Lung Organization's website in the United Kingdom.

Black and White Suits

Although Diana liked colored clothing, she often enjoyed combinations of white and black suits, matching them with style and elegance. She wore the style to Melbourne, Australia, in 1985, Washington, DC, in 1985, and the Royal Ascot in 1986.

In 1989, Diana also wore a black and white plaid Catherine Walker suit, matched with a black hat, for a memorial service. Many of her colorless suits are similar to those sold at fashion house Zara today.

Wearing high-rise jeans with a belt has been a fashionable trend in recent years. Some decades ago, Diana sported the same style precisely as she roamed the streets of London.

William and Harry have since married women with a great fashion sense. In particular, Kate Middleton has been compared to Diana several times, not only for her clothing but for breaking protocol.

As a royal icon with many fans, Kate has been criticized for her actions and sense of style. Previously, she faced critics who called her dress old and like a matron's. However, there were also some who liked her clothing.
