Kathy Griffin, 64, Reveals Procedure She Underwent After People Said She Had a 'Very Taut' Face — Details

With her trademark blend of humor and honesty, the veteran comedian revealed that she recently had more work done on her face.

On August 5, 2025, Kathy Griffin released a new episode of her online series, "Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off," in which she opened up about getting a facelift. She took viewers through the consultation process, the surgery, and her thoughts on why paparazzi seem fixated on her looks, also touching on some of the headlines written about her appearance.

In the 25-minute installment, the comedian started by greeting her audience. "And I say welcome back because I have a new face, you guys. I had a facelift," she added, smiling widely at the camera. "That's right. I talk about it now."

Griffin went on to share that she had first mentioned the procedure during a livestream, adding that the idea of her having any surgery was amusing since she was not the kind of celebrity known for her appearance.

She discussed other things for a few minutes before circling back to the subject of her newest cosmetic work, for which she thanked Dr. Ben Talei, a facial plastic surgeon with over 400,000 followers on Instagram.

Griffin then noted that consultations with doctors like him can be unintentionally funny, as they point out perceived problem areas, outline possible fixes, and even ask about previous surgeons.

"And they get really competitive about who did the last one. By the way, this is my third," she revealed. "So, yes. Enjoy that Daily Mail. And we'll get to the Daily Mail in a minute and Page Six. But anyway, yes, it's my third. I know that's so vain. I'm so vain for no reason." She added that audiences don’t attend her shows for her appearance, nor does she want them to.

"He did something on my eyelids where there were stitches in my eyelids," Griffin continued. "[...] And then he added like a cat eye stitch at the end that I think is the new trendy way of doing an upper eye job."

Along with sharing details of her surgery, Griffin mentioned that Dr. Talei had also operated on SIA and called the singer's before-and-after photos the most impressive she had seen.

By the end of the episode, the comedian reflected on the attention she gets from the press over her appearance. "When you're of a certain age, you get paparazzi'd because you don't have makeup on," she shared, adding that she obviously doesn't wear makeup during her workouts.

"But one time I went for a walk after I taped one of these. So I looked very — I would call this glamorous because it's all fake," she added, pointing to her face. "And so instead the title was something like 'A very taut Kathy Griffin goes out for a walk' because I had done the live about getting a facelift and 'very taut' is also very true."

Even with the comments from outlets, the comedian hasn't been shy to show many aspects of her life on social media. She often posts selfies, revealing her natural face, and sometimes writes about her feelings in the captions.

Furthermore, Griffin has spoken about her other surgeries, including a hysterectomy she underwent a few months ago. She uploaded a video on April 12 showing her first walk since the procedure and thanked everyone for their well-wishes.

Kathy Griffin has even made fun of the plastic surgery rumors and speculation. For instance, in a video from April 7, she talked about wearing a Shell, which is a structured top that usually goes under cardigans or blouses, because her mother would make her.

She added that she had gained weight after the previous year's election, and it had all gone to her chest. "I'm not saying Kathy Griffin's rack is a trending topic or will be. I'm just saying, look at it. I mean, who's 64, single, and sexy?" she joked. "This lady right here, huh? Come on. Who's still got it? I look like I got a boob job and a BBL."
