Alicia Navarro, Who Vanished 4 Years Ago, Has Been Found – She Walked into Police Station & Has Spoken
Alicia Navarro's family was left devastated when she suddenly disappeared in 2019. Alicia was about to turn fifteen when days before the celebration, she went missing, leaving her family panicked and confused.
Alicia was described as a high-functioning autistic teenager who went missing in the middle of the night just before her fifteenth birthday in Arizona. Her mother confirmed that it was out of character for her to do something like this.
A new development in the case has left the family overjoyed, and those following her case are rejoicing with the family at the good news. Over three years after she disappeared, Alicia's family finally has some answers.
Alicia's mother took to her "Finding Alicia" Facebook page to announce that she had found out an hour before the news broke to the public that her daughter had been found but confirmed that she did not know any details.
People following the case since the beginning flooded the comments with messages of love and joy, saying how happy they were that Alicia had finally been found safe and alive.
Alicia has been cooperating with state and federal police on the case and is being kept safe as they learn more about her case and what happened to Alicia over the past few years when she was missing.
What Happened to Alicia Navarro?
Alicia's mother began her video by saying she owed the news that her daughter had been found to God and the community. She thanked her followers for their love and support for almost four years while Alicia was missing.
Alicia's mother then implored her followers with missing loved ones to use her daughter's case as an example of what could happen when people did not give up on searching for their loved ones and praying for their wellbeing.
While Alicia's mother said that she did not know the details about her daughter's discovery, she was simply grateful that her daughter was alive and well, unharmed, and seemingly cooperative with the police.
During Alicia's missing years, there were many leads on her case that police followed to no end. However, it had taken a miracle for Alicia to be found just before her nineteenth birthday.
Alicia's mother said that before her disappearance, Alicia was a quiet child who often stayed home to play video games and watch anime. Her mother described her as "smart but introverted" but confirmed that her daughter had met some people online.
When she disappeared in the middle of the night when she was younger, she left a note for her mother which read:
"I ran away. I will be back, I swear. I'm sorry."
Alicia's mother, Jessica Nunez, then went outside the back door, which was open, and found chairs stacked against her backyard wall. Her mother confirmed that she saw her daughter's footprints on the other side of the wall, making it seem like she had jumped over it.
Jessica said that when Alicia left, she had her Macbook and cell phone. However, soon after that, her digital trace was lost. The police have been pursuing her ever since then without any luck.
However, on Sunday, Alicia walked into a Montana police station close to the Canadian border and identified herself as the missing girl. She asked that they remove her from the missing persons' record. The Glendale Police Department confirmed that Alicia was there with videos.
In the videos, Alicia confirmed that she had left the home of her own volition and had not been hurt when missing. A spokesman for the Glendale PD, Jose Santiago, shared:
"She is by all accounts safe, she is by all accounts healthy, and she is by all accounts happy."
Santiago added that she was not in any trouble or facing any charges. Glendale PD's Lieutenant Scott Waite said that Alicia had told police that she had willingly left her home, and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance were now under investigation.
Lt. Waite also said that Jessica and Alicia had an "emotionally overwhelming" reunion and that Alicia was incredibly apologetic for everything she had put her mother through during the past few years while she was missing.
Alicia's family has now asked for privacy as they come to terms with Alicia being home and uncovering more details about what has been happening to her during the past four years while she was away.
What Did Alicia's Followers Say?
Many people have followed Alicia's case for the past four years, and many are overjoyed that she has finally been returned safely to her family, despite her willingly leaving her family.
One woman said she hoped Alicia would be returned to her mother, who had relentlessly looked for her daughter and remarked how amazing God was. Another exclaimed:
"I remember following this case! Glad she is alive!!!"
Many people following her case expressed their thanks to God for answering the prayers of the family, who had always hoped that she would be returned to her home safely.
While many people were excited and happy that she had finally been found, others had other opinions. Some people following the case found the circumstances of her reappearance odd.
One person said it was weird that she went into the police station to ask to be removed from the missing persons log as she wasn't kidnapped but had run away from home. Some agreed with this opinion.
Another person said that although the police had confirmed that Alicia was healthy, she felt they could not determine that without a medical evaluation. The person thought the girl looked pale, thin, and tired in the shared photo.
Alicia's family are seeking privacy during this tumultuous time, and we wish them nothing but the best as they navigate the ongoing investigations into Alicia's case. There are many other cases like Alicia's, you can read another here.
