After a few years, the man's grandmother passed away. Shortly after, his grandfather retired, deciding to settle down in the mountains.

Although his granddad moved away, the two remained close, bonding over shared interests. The user started to trade on the stock market, earning a considerable amount of money by investing in stocks. Using the profits from his investments, he decided to join his grandfather in the mountains.

A Peaceful Life in the Countryside

The two built themselves log cabins, and the Reddit user helped his grandfather outfit his new home with solar panels and insulate his roof with metal. They spent almost every day together, hiking in the mountains surrounding their property, fishing nearby, and hunting local animals. The two lived an almost entirely self-sufficient life.

The rest of the family barely saw the pair. The grandfather's sons only stopped by once a year, while the rest of the grandchildren had no interest in his lifestyle whatsoever. Meanwhile, the user and his granddad grew close over the years, living a life many would consider idyllic.

Sadly, the grandfather eventually passed away, and the entire family got together to celebrate his life. They shared stories of when they were younger and even recalled the days when their grandmother was still around. It seemed like the perfect ending until one of the user's uncles brought up an old bag of gold coins.

Despite his gratitude, his uncles were unhappy, claiming the user had kept some for himself, and demanded that he sell the land he had inherited to make up for the missing gold.

The user's uncles were pushing him for more money, which resulted in the user's father becoming angry with his siblings.
