Chevy Chase’s Wife Got Him Out of ‘Doldrums’ – After 43 Years They Have Raised 3 Daughters Who’ve Became ’Pretty Ladies'
- Chevy Chase and his wife have spent over four decades together.
- Chase's wife helped him get sober and maintain sobriety throughout the years.
- The couple also welcomed three children together and are a happy family.
American actor Chevy Chase is best known for his roles in "Vacation," "Caddyshack," and "Funny Farm," although he has had many other parts during his enormously successful Hollywood career.
Chase also has a wonderful family, starting with his wife, Jayni. Although his marriage to Jayni is not his first, she is the one who made a significant impact on her husband's life.
Chase has not been as active in Hollywood as before and has theories on why that might be. He credited his failed 1993 late-night talk show with part of it and moving from LA to New York to raise a family with his wife, Jayni, with the rest. However, he doesn't regret a thing.
Chase and Jayni met during a turbulent time in Chase's life. Jayni was an athlete-turned-communications scholar and then worked at NBC for a while before moving to Rainbow. It was here she met Chase.
The couple planned to fall in love, buy a house, live together, get engaged, get married, and then have a baby, in that order. Yet they found that finding their home was the most challenging step. They saw 50 houses before they found the LA mansion they wanted to live in.

While Chase had some unsavory vices when he and Jayni first met, he quickly let go of them because of her. He shared:
"There is no smoking of pot, no drugs, no drinking. It's a very clean life."
Since 41 years ago, Chase has been sober and has felt all the better for it. The actor has often credited his wife with how his life has turned out and how much of a difference she made when they met.
What Are Chase and Jayne's Love Story?
Chase once said that his wife "got [him] right out of the doldrums [he'd] been in for three years," and he has always been grateful for that. After Chase became sober, the couple's life together could truly begin.
Although Chase had been married twice before he met Jayni, he only brought one child named Bryan into the world. When he met Jayni, the couple knew they wanted to start a family. Because of this, Chase had to become less selfish so he could be a good father.
In January 1982, Chase welcomed his first daughter, Cydney Cathalene Chase. Chase admitted that he was "terrified" to become a father and said he read every book and went to every class he could to prepare for the baby's arrival.
Chase and Jayni thought their first child would be a boy, but Chase admitted that he immediately fell in love when he saw the baby was a girl. Chase cut Cydney's umbilical cord and held her for the first hour after birth.

Chase thought Cydney recognized his voice when she was born because she had been hearing it for nine months as he sang and spoke to her while she was in the womb. He then mused that Cydney would never remember her first couple of years while he would never forget them.
When Cydney was a toddler, she and her father did everything from reading to swimming together. Chase said he had even changed his habits, favoring a walk outside on a Saturday with his daughter over watching a football game.

Not only did having children alter how Chase behaved socially, but it also changed how he conducted himself professionally. Chase once talked about the roles he was willing to accept since becoming a father and clarified:
"Once I got married and had kids, I moved away from romantic roles because it seemed wrong to have my [daughters] wondering why Daddy was kissing someone else."
Friends of Chase also noticed the difference in his mindset when he became a father, saying his humor became far less cynical and that he had become more pleasant to be around, especially with his children.
What Is Chase's Family Life Like?
Although Chase was besotted with the arrival of his first daughter, he had enough love to go around for the following three children that he and Jayni brought into the world. A year after Cydney was born, they welcomed another daughter named Caley. Their youngest daughter, Emily, arrived in 1988.
Chase welcomed his first child, Bryan, in 1979 while separated from his then-wife, Jacqueline Carlin. However, Carlin is not Bryan's mother. In fact, the identity of Bryan's mother has yet to be revealed. Chase's eldest child has lived his life entirely outside the spotlight, leaving almost no information to be found about him.
Cydney arrived in 1983, a year after her parents married, and has since grown up to follow in her father's famous footsteps. However, she did not go into acting like her father. Instead, Cydney became a singer-songwriter.
She shows her talent on social media with videos of her singing and playing instruments, often appearing on her social media pages. She is also married to a man named Ryan Bartell, but it is unclear when they exchanged vows.
Chase's second daughter, Caley, followed her father's footsteps and pursued an acting career. She made her debut in "Shakes" in 2005 and has since had roles in "Sherry," "See Me," and "A Christmas In Vermont."
However, Caley's talents do not end in front of the camera. She is also a writer and producer who helped write 2018's "Girl’s Night," acting as a producer on "Shakes." Apart from her Hollywood endeavors, Caley is also an Artistic Associate at the Huntington Theatre Company.
Emily is Chase's youngest daughter and is highly active on social media to promote criminal justice reform and champion other topics about which she is passionate. Emily has not followed in her father's footsteps but often shows him off on her social media.
While she has often posted photos of herself and her dogs to her feed, she also publishes her father and once called him her "forever Valentine." Fans have also shared their thoughts on the girls' appearance on Emily's Instagram, calling them "beautiful girls" and "pretty ladies." A lovely family indeed.
