Becoming a mother is one of the best feelings in the world for most women, except the ones not looking forward to having a baby. The woman in today's story never knew she would become an adoptive mother until someone abandoned their baby at her house.

The woman shared her story in the relationship advice forum on Reddit, where she asked people for advice regarding her situation. She retold how the child's mother left the baby at her place.

The woman shared that the biological mother, who was her late best friend's partner, called to ask if she could babysit the child for some time. The woman received the call four days after the little girl's birth, unaware of what the biological mother had in her mind.

The woman immediately agreed to look after the newborn because she felt the biological mother must be feeling overwhelmed after giving birth. As a result, the biological mother left the baby at the woman's house, saying she would return in a few hours. Little did the woman know that the new mother was lying.

Why Did the Biological Mother Leave Her Baby?

"She left the little girl at my house with enough formula for one bottle and roughly three diapers and a couple of hours turned into a couple of days," the woman recalled in her Reddit post. Feeling worried, the woman tried to find out where the mother was to no avail.

Soon, she found the biological mother with the police's help, but the woman refused to take her baby back. Instead, she agreed to sign the baby over to the Redditor, who soon became the little girl's adoptive mother.

The Redditor felt she couldn't hand over the baby to someone else because she knew how much her late best friend wanted to have a child. This wasn't the first time the biological mother wished to live without her baby.

The Redditor recalled that her best friend passed away a few months before the biological woman learned about her pregnancy. The couple was in a casual relationship, and the woman didn't plan on becoming a mother. However, when she learned about her unborn baby, she continued her pregnancy because she believed abortion was not a good idea.

Since she didn't want to keep the baby, she planned to give the child to social services and let them find a foster family. When the Redditor learned about this, she "couldn't in good conscience allow an innocent baby to be handed over to a horrible system," so she decided to foster the baby.

However, before the baby's birth, the pregnant woman changed her decision and told the woman that she would look after her baby herself. Feeling happy, the woman supported the mother's decision, unaware she would soon become the child's adoptive mother.

Why Did the Biological Mother Return?

Before writing the Reddit post, the baby's biological mother contacted the woman, asking if she could be a part of her daughter's life. The birth mother wanted to meet her baby regularly, but the adoptive mother was unsure if she should let the woman near the baby.

"Given how she acted during her pregnancy (not caring about where she ended up) and how she acted ''abandoning'' her like that, I don't believe she would be the most stable person in her life, let alone be a positive addition," the Redditor stated.

What confused her was that she didn't believe she had the authority to keep a mother away from her biological child. Initially, she had planned to introduce the birth mother into her daughter's life when the girl grew up, but things took a different turn.

She asked other users if she should allow the woman to meet her daughter regularly or wait for the girl to grow older and decide if she wanted to meet her biological mother. What do you think the woman should do? We would love to read your opinion in the comments section.
