Mom Gives up 2-Year-Old Daughter for Adoption as Soon as She Has a Son
A family reunion ended in disaster after one sister updated her loved ones on what had occurred since welcoming a new baby. The family has since been torn apart because of the revelations.
A Reddit user penned a heartbreaking story in March 2021. What was supposed to be a celebratory moment for her family was devastating instead.
The woman shared that her sister had welcomed a new baby, a boy, who was her second child. The family was overjoyed by the new addition. However, they were in for a surprise.

The lady stated her sibling lived a few states away from the rest of the family, and they had not seen her in the year that had past when they decided to have a Zoom call to catch up.
The sister had her first child, a daughter, two years prior with her boyfriend, and the couple welcomed a son the month before they all gathered for a video call.
Things Got Intense after the Aunt Asked about Her Niece – The Big Revelation
During the Zoom meeting, the family saw the newborn and were "thrilled." Then the woman asked about her niece, whom she wanted to say hi to. She explained her sister went silent after, and then:
"My sister very quietly said she doesn't have her. My aunt questioned this, and I was also confused. After a few minutes, my sister said that at the beginning of January 2021, she put her daughter up for a closed adoption because she couldn't care for two kids."

The mood instantly changed after this revelation. The woman said the family "lost it" and "the whole zoom was a mess." They were blindsided by this decision and did not even get to say goodbye to the niece.
The woman expressed her sister did not have to go this route because anyone in the family could have taken in her two-year-old daughter, including herself. She divulged that she had previously suffered multiple miscarriages and had had fertility issues.
Possible Reason for the Adoption & Family Member's Reactions
The social media user added that although she was pregnant during that time, she was stable and owned a home, and had the means to care for a toddler and have a child of her own. She further disclosed:
"Important: My sister has always also said she wanted to be a boy mom."

The woman was so infuriated by her sibling's actions that she started calling her names and insulting her. She even asked whether she would get rid of her baby boy once she got bored of him.
The concerned sibling asked why her sister went ahead with the adoption without informing the rest of the family, adding she knew her well enough that she did not want a girl child. The Reddit user revealed:
"She was depressed when she found out she was having a girl but thrilled for this entire recent pregnancy. I called her a monster for making children she didn't want to care for."
By that point, their grandmother started to have a panic attack which they initially believed was a heart attack. The siblings' aunt, who lives with the grandparent, tended to her and turned the camera off. Thankfully, their grandmother recovered.

"My sister has since cut off all contact from the entire family," said the anonymous woman, adding their father was mad at her for going ballistic at her sister. He believes she pushed her sibling away when he could have convinced her daughter to have the adoption reversed.
The dad stated that the Reddit user ruined his chances of getting his niece back and he was afraid he would never get to know his grandson. The woman believed her father did not understand what closed adoption meant and that it was suspicious that the process went through so fast, indicating her sister had started with it long before.
The Woman Decided to Fight for Custody of Both Her Sister's Kids
Reddit users were appalled by the sister's decision and called her names too. One person commented, "Your sister is a monster. It's one thing to admit you can't care for a child, but to adopt out a two-year-old because they're not the right gender?"
Another user wrote, "I think this is one of the worst things I've ever seen on Reddit. I just can't get my head around it." Someone else hinted that the sister clearly did not love her daughter.

Other Reddit users advised the woman to speak to authorities about this matter and seek a family lawyer while at it. The woman thanked them for their suggestions and sound advice, which she heeded.
She later updated them on the platform sharing she would be fighting for custody of her sister's daughter in court and had contacted Child Protection Services.
The lady said she might fight for her sister's son, too, adding, "My sister has a past with drugs and instability. […] I feel if the adoption is valid, I could use that as a reason as to why she shouldn't keep the second child."
