Wife Notices Husband Taking Wedding Ring off When He Leaves Home, Follows Him Once – Story of the Day
Miriam notices her husband taking his wedding ring off before leaving for work. She follows him one day, only to see him visiting a young woman's house in an unfamiliar neighborhood.
It was a typical day for Miriam. Her husband Jack left for work, and laundry was the next big task on her list. She was sorting the clothes that needed a wash, when she noticed a hole in Jack's old sock.
"Oh God, Jack!" she chuckled. "You're still a kid! How often do I have to remind you to throw away your old socks?"
Miriam then decided to go through Jack's sock drawer and discard the worn-out ones.
As Miriam began sorting the socks, she felt something like a tiny object tucked away inside a sock. She pulled it out and sat back in shock. It was her husband's wedding ring…

"Jack's ring? How did it end up here when he's supposed to be wearing it?" Miriam gasped.
She assumed Jack had forgotten he'd kept the ring in the drawer. But something about how neatly and carefully the ring was concealed inside the hose confused Miriam.
Was Jack hiding the ring intentionally? Miriam decided to find out and called him immediately. But when her call went unanswered, she rang his office.

"Mrs. Parker? Good afternoon!" Jack's office secretary answered. "How is Mr. Parker doing now? We hope he's better."
"Jack is fine," Miriam responded, even more confused by the concern in the secretary's voice.
"That's really good to hear! We were all a little worried. Mr. Parker is a great businessman...but he needs to take care of his health. I hope he gets well soon and returns to the office. You know...not seeing him around for the past several days has been very weird."
Miriam's heart raced. She now understood that Jack hadn't been to his office in days.

Miriam faked a 'thank you' and hung up. Jack had been keeping her in a web of lies, and it only suddenly dawned on her now. If he wasn't showing up to work every day, where was he going?
As several disturbing thoughts gnawed at Miriam's mind, she grew desperate to find out what was going on with Jack. She was waiting for him to be home when a message from his number flashed on her phone screen.
"Darling, please don't wait up. Something urgent's come up at work. I'll be late again. Sorry, babe :("
Tears sprang into Miriam's eyes. Suppressing her rising panic, she typed: "It's OK, babe. See you later, xoxo."

Miriam was now sure that Jack was hiding something from her. She decided to confront him and waited wide awake for as long as she could. But when Miriam opened her eyes, it was already morning.
She had dozed off waiting for Jack and was alone in their bedroom. Miriam slipped into her robe and ran downstairs, only to see Jack putting his plate in the sink.
"Morning, honey!" he smiled at her as he dried his hands on the kitchen towel. Miriam noticed the wedding ring on his finger and sighed.

"You in a rush today?" she asked.
"Oh, yeah, babe," he approached and kissed her. "I have an important meeting. You were sleeping like a bear...so I didn't want to wake you. I made your favorite scrambled eggs! Enjoy your breakfast."
"Thanks, Jack...I wanted to talk to you about something. I was—"
"Sorry, honey. I'm running late. I promise I'll try to come home early today so we can talk, okay? I gotta go now. Love you!"

Miriam nodded. She was partly relieved after seeing Jack wearing the wedding ring. But something about his leaving home early these days and lying about going to work didn't add up.
Jack briefly went upstairs before running back down, leaving a half-hearted peck on Miriam's cheek, and walking out the front door with his briefcase. She waved goodbye, but he didn't stop to respond. Then, Miriam noticed something unusual about Jack. He was wearing winter gloves!
She dashed to their bedroom and frantically checked Jack's sock drawer.
"Jesus, this can't be..." Miriam froze when she found his wedding ring hidden in another sock this time.
A married man hiding his wedding ring meant only one thing—but Miriam couldn't accuse Jack of cheating yet...not without proof.
She got dressed and decided to follow him on foot to the bus stop near their house. She saw Jack fidgeting with his phone while waiting for the bus. But the bus he boarded minutes later was different from the usual one he took to work.

Miriam discreetly boarded the crowded bus through a different entrance and sat far from Jack. Half an hour later, the bus stopped, and Jack got off. Miriam saw him heading to a residential area in a nucleated neighborhood miles away from their home.
Miriam hid behind a tree and watched Jack approach a small house and ring the doorbell. Moments later, the door creaked open, and a young woman, about 10 years younger than Jack, greeted him.
Miriam was shocked as she watched Jack and the woman kissing passionately on the doorstep before disappearing inside.

The very sight of it made her throw up. She couldn't believe Jack was cheating on her...that too with a woman a decade younger than him.
Miriam wanted to storm inside the house and catch Jack and his mistress red-handed. But she didn't want to take that risk. After all, if Jack learned that Miriam knew about his affair, he would easily leave her and move on with his newfound love.
Miriam couldn't afford that. She didn't want to lose her husband to a younger, prettier, sexier woman. So she plotted a plan to get Jack's mistress out of the picture…and out of his life.

Miriam sat at a café across the street from the woman's house, watching every movement. At around seven, she saw Jack exit the house after kissing his mistress. When Jack was out of sight, Miriam hurried to the woman's house and knocked.
"Yes, can I help you?" the woman answered the door.
"Hi...I'm Miriam. You don't know me. But...look, let me get straight to the point. I saw my husband with you just a while ago."
"Excuse me?" the woman raised an eyebrow. "I think you're at the wrong address. I don't know what you're talking about."
The woman almost slammed the door shut, but Miriam stopped her.

"Jack...the man you're dating...he's my husband. We've been married for 20 years," Miriam said, showing her wedding ring and their pictures on her phone.
"Look, Jack's cheating on me. And I think he's keeping you in the dark. He's been taking the wedding ring off before leaving for work every day."
"Oh my God...I can't believe this," the lady gasped. "I...I had no idea he was married. Please come in."
The woman then led Miriam inside and introduced herself as Tessa.

"I love Jack," Miriam broke down. "I never imagined I'd see a day like this."
"I don't know what to say either..." Tessa sighed. "We met at a bar six months ago. Jack just approached me and offered me a drink. He wasn't wearing a wedding ring..."
"The way we feel for each other now...I'm sorry," Tessa finished as she stared Miriam in the eye. "I know Jack's your husband. But I can't stop loving him. And I know he loves me too."

"Look, Tessa," Miriam said, swallowing her tears. "...you have to understand that this has to end. He has a family. A wife and an 8-year-old son. You can't break someone's home."
"I'm not breaking anyone's home," Tessa argued. "It's not my fault if Jack doesn't love you anymore."
Miriam was taken aback by the woman's audacity, and just as she was about to explode from anger, a voice distracted them.
"Who are you?"

Miriam turned around and saw a little girl at the kitchen entrance. She had pretty blue eyes and looked a lot like Tessa. But Miriam was drawn to the girl's bald head.
"Mommy, when will we watch cartoons?" the girl asked Tessa. "Hi, I'm Lily. Are you joining us?"
"Mama will be there in five minutes, sweetie. Why don't you go inside and play with your new toys until then?" Tessa faked a smile.
"Is she your daughter?" Miriam asked.
"That's none of your business," Tessa fumed and showed Miriam the door. "Please leave."
"I see your daughter has cancer," Miriam squeezed Tessa's hand.
"I can help you. If you leave my husband, I'll pay for Lily's treatment. $100,000...I'm ready to give the money to you if you do as I say."

Tessa slowly started tearing up, and Miriam noticed desperation in her eyes. "Make a wise choice," she added. "This money would be enough for Lily's chemotherapy."
After a brief pause, Tessa nodded.
"Great! I'll meet you at two tomorrow."
Tessa agreed as Miriam happily left the house. The next day, she met Tessa and paid the money in cash. Tessa promised Miriam she would leave Jack forever and never return to the city.
Miriam's heart felt lighter now. She didn't notice anything peculiar about Jack's behavior after that. He had stopped taking off his wedding ring before he left for work, and Miriam assumed Tessa had left the town.
Finally, the peace in her world was restored, Miriam thought. But her worst fears were confirmed when she checked Jack's closet four days after meeting with Tessa. His wedding ring was in the closet drawer again, hidden in a sock.

Without thinking twice, Miriam drove to Tessa's house and banged on the door. She was terribly mad.
A few moments later, Jack answered the door, and his eyes widened in shock. "Mmm...Miriam?! Wha-what are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here?" Miriam barked. "It's time for you to give me a bloody answer, Jack."
"Jack, who's there?" a familiar voice interrupted from inside.
Miriam couldn't believe her eyes when Tessa appeared in the doorway and stood beside Jack.
"Wow! So this is how you keep your word?" Miriam fumed. "You homewrecker!"

"Do you know each other?" Jack looked at his wife and Tessa. "What's going on?"
"Your wife wanted me out of your life in exchange for $100,000, Jack," Tessa declared. "I took the money and left you. But I couldn't stop loving you. Look, Miriam...you're a wonderful woman. But I love Jack more than anything. So I came back."
"God, Jack...we've been married for over 20 years. And this girl thinks she can win you over in just a few months? I'll forgive you for everything. Just come home with me," Miriam pleaded. But Jack averted his gaze.
"I respect you, Miriam. You're an amazing woman...a wonderful mother. But I don't love you anymore. I love Tessa..."

"What nonsense, Jack," Miriam argued. "Snap to your senses. Sleeping with a woman you only met six months ago is not love."
"I'm sorry, Miriam. I can't do this anymore. Look, I'll support you and Harry after we divorce," Jack sighed. "I can't force this relationship on us anymore."
"Damn! I can't believe some random young girl has brainwashed my husband. If you think I'll stand here and beg, that won't happen, Jack. And you...I want my money back," Miriam turned to Tessa. "Every penny!"
"I...I don't have it with me now," Tessa looked away.

"You don't have it?" Miriam hissed. "You deceived me...so you better give me back my money."
"I'll return the money, Miriam. I need some time. I already paid for Lily's treatment."
"She'll pay you back, Miriam. Stop harassing us," Jack chimed in.
"Fine!" Miriam screamed before she turned and left, her body throbbing with embarrassment and anger.
Everything changed in Miriam's life after that. Jack moved out and lived with Tessa. Although Miriam never made a scene again and kept calm, a cunning plan was brewing at the back of her head. She decided to exact revenge on the woman who had stolen her husband.

One day, Miriam bought a vial of a specific kind of poison from an online black market. When Jack visited to take their son for a walk, Miriam realized it was time to put her revenge plan into motion.
"Tessa is going to the gym after work. So Harry and I will take her gym bag to her...and then we'll go to the zoo. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to use the restroom," Jack told Miriam.
Miriam's eyes beamed. She knew this was the perfect opportunity and rushed to her room to fetch the poison vial. She emptied the toxic liquid into Tessa's gym sipper, which lay on the passenger seat in Jack's car, and stepped back.
"See you soon, love!" she waved at Harry as she saw him leave with his father.

At home, Miriam anxiously awaited the good news that Tessa was battling for her life. Twenty minutes later, her phone rang, and Jack's number flashed on the screen.
"Miriam, please come to the City Hospital," he cried.
"I'm taking Harry there...I don't know what happened. He said he was thirsty. I gave him Tessa's sipper, and he just passed out after taking a sip from it."
Miriam's heart pounded in her chest, and she dropped the phone.
