Stranger Harasses Little Girl on Internet — Her Dad Finds Him & He ‘Hated the Next Few Months of His Life'
- An eight-year-old girl was minding her business playing Minecraft when a fellow internet user began harassing her.
- Using his awe-inspiring sleuthing skills, the father of the girl tracked down this individual who had crossed his daughter.
- The consequences were deeply satisfying for him and his fellow Reddit users.
Taking to Reddit seven years ago, a father shared the story of his little girl's horrendous Minecraft experience. He explained that she was eight years old and merely enjoyed the game.
The father set up a way for her to record her screen time when playing so she could share it on YouTube later. However, this excitement dwindled when he discovered his daughter crying while playing the game.

His daughter didn't want to speak to him about what occurred, but he eventually realized that she and a few other children were being harassed online. He recalled:
"This kid...was saying [expletive] about how he was going to [expletive] my 8 year old daughter (she told him how old she was hoping he would stop), how he was going to hack into her IP and steal all her info, swearing profusely."
His fiancée, he explained, was also extremely upset about the situation. That is until they discovered they could do something about it because their daughter had recorded everything.

The Plan and Investigation to Avenge His Daughter
The recording allowed the dad to try and find the anonymous harasser, first, by taking to Google and searching via the stranger's username. He stated:
"There were several hits immediately, the most interesting of which involved a page where he was publicly applying to be a mod for a server on Minecraft. I was able to learn a lot about this little POS: he claimed to be 15, likes hockey, used to live in Toronto but now lives in Florida."
The anonymous user's Skype name included a first and last name, which helped the dad find this unknown Minecraft player. This was when he moved over to Facebook.

Eventually, he managed to find who he was looking for, and it wasn't the harasser himself, but his father, something that pleased him even more.
The Moment of Truth and the Scathing Consequences
He sent this father a message, confirming that this individual he was tracking was his son, who was, in fact, only 11 years old. Then the Redditor sent the boy's father the recording, only to be met by silence for many days. That is until he received a message back. The eight-year-old girl's father learned that the boy's computer had been taken away from him as punishment from his parents who were "livid" with him. Moreover, he penned:
...and he surely hated the next few months of his life."

The title of the Redditor's post read: "Harass my daughter on Minecraft? You can't hide from me." He certainly proved that to be the case.
The comment section had a generally celebratory atmosphere, with individuals applauding the father's sleuthing skills and his evident love for his daughter. One individual wrote:
"You got an 11-year-old's computer taken away for a summer. That's like a 15-year jail sentence in adult years...Pro indeed. You're a good dad!"

That being said, although not necessarily critiquing the dad, some warned the father of the dangers of the internet. They implored him to use this as a learning opportunity for himself and his daughter.
Some spoke about the fact that there are older players on Minecraft. Others emphasized the importance of learning about cyberbullying. Many brought up keeping an eye on and restricting children's internet use. One Redditor penned:
"Your daughter learned three lessons from this
- what cyber bullying is. How it affects people. And why it's really bad.
- in this day and age, pretty much everything is recorded.
- how to be a good parent."

One individual expressed happiness that the young boy's parents had taken punitive action. Generally, individuals praised the father.
When a parent's child is harassed or bullied, it can make them sick to their stomach. One boy was mocked by his teachers, who also chose to record the incident. Click here to read this story.
