Woman Kicks Husband Out of Her Children’s Father’s Funeral after Hearing Him Speak to Them at the Ceremony
A woman found herself in a difficult situation when she heard her husband talking to her children at their father's funeral. The woman did not expect her husband to act the way he did while the kids were mourning their father's death.
A 36-year-old woman wrote a detailed Reddit post to ask other users if she had done the right thing at her ex's funeral. She had a 12-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter with her ex and later married another man.
Before sharing the main story, the woman said that the father of her children was diagnosed with cancer. He struggled with the life-threatening illness until his health deteriorated so much that he eventually died.

What bothered the woman the most was that she hadn't prepared her children for their father's funeral. She planned to attend it with them but was unsure how they would react while mourning his death.
The woman wanted to take her children to their late father's funeral so they could process their loss properly, but her new husband had a different opinion on the matter. He thought the children were too young to attend their father's funeral and believed they shouldn't attend at all.
When the woman said she would still take her children to the funeral because she wanted them to see him one last time, her husband said he would accompany them. She recalled in her Reddit post:
"I wasn't sure, but I contacted my former in-laws, and they said it was fine."
What Happened at the Funeral?
The woman agreed to take her husband to her ex's funeral, unaware of what would happen there. Her husband drove them while instructing her children how to behave at the funeral.

The woman thought he shouldn't have done that, but she didn't react at that point. Once they reached the funeral venue, she asked her kids to stand with their grandparents while she stood far from them.
Meanwhile, her husband met people at the funeral and introduced himself. The woman didn't mind him doing that, but what he did next was something she wasn't expecting. The woman heard her children cry, but it didn't bother her until her husband told them not to cry.

"While the kids were crying, he loudly said, 'Stop crying, really there's no need for this....it's not like he can hear you,' and the kids just started sobbing at this point," the woman recalled.
Her husband's raised voice caught everyone's attention, and the woman felt embarrassed. While her in-laws stared at her, she quickly approached her husband and asked him to step aside.
Feeling angry, she told him what he did was "horrible," but the man argued that he was just trying to help the kids control their emotions. Despite him thinking he was right, the woman told him he had no right to tell her children how to grieve their father's demise.

At that point, the woman asked her husband to leave the funeral, but he refused. According to the woman, her husband "threw a fit" and thought she was "overreacting." However, he left the funeral after she kept insisting.
What Were the Kids' and the Man's Reactions after the Funeral?
After her husband left and the funeral ended, the woman tried talking to her children but felt terrible when they refused to speak to her. Instead of coming home with her, the children stayed with their aunt after saying their final goodbyes to their father.

When the woman arrived home alone, her husband greeted her angrily. He was furious because the woman had kicked him out of the funeral despite knowing he had come there to support her and the children.
"I told him what he said made the kids refuse to even come home with me," the woman recounted. She added that her husband demanded an apology because she had disrespected him by kicking him out of the funeral.
Before ending her post, the woman shared that her husband did not have a healthy relationship with her ex when he was alive. She asked other users if she was at fault for kicking her husband out of the funeral. What would you have done if you were in the woman's shoes? Do you think she did the right thing?
