The Teenagers Didn't Want to Be Friends

There wasn't a particular instance for the man's daughter to dislike her cousin – she just did. Despite this, his wife continued to push the relationship.

For years, the wife forced her daughter to sit with the cousin on family occasions, asked her to invite her on trips, and constantly forced her to call the cousin to chat.

While the teenager's mom insisted on the relationship, the dad remained apathetic. He didn't believe in forcing things to work, especially when, after sixteen years, it didn't.

The following morning, however, she woke her parents with a presentation titled: "Valid Reasons to Dislike [Cousin]."

The Woman's Husband Didn't Want to Force the Relationship

The man's wife was angered by his lack of care towards the situation. However, he insisted that, despite being the self-proclaimed favorite parent, he could not make two teenagers become friends if they didn't want to be.

"I'm also pretty sure that trying to push this kind of knuckleheaded stuff makes kids not want to speak to you," he said about his wife.

One day, his wife urged their daughter to call the cousin in question so they could catch up. Even after their daughter said no, the mom insisted, saying: "Unless you have a valid reason for disliking your cousin, you will do this because we're family."

Knowing her mom wouldn't take no for an answer, the teenager called her cousin. The following morning, however, she woke her parents with a presentation titled: "Valid Reasons to Dislike [Cousin]."

In the presentation, the daughter showed clips from her video call with her cousin and added segments about the cousin's voice. She also pointed out that their conversations had no value, and even the dumbest, most trivial questions seemed valid because of their pointless conversation.

The teenager's mom was furious. However, the dad and his eldest daughter laughed hard at the masterpiece his middle child had created.

The man's wife demanded he punish his daughter for bullying her cousin. However, he refused, saying the situation would have never happened if she hadn't pushed the relationship so much.

People on the internet were divided over the situation. Some believed the dad could have politely spoken to his daughter without punishing her. Others said the mom was at fault for forcing the relationship on a grown woman.

"The bully here is your wife, OP. She disrespects your daughter regularly by refusing to accept that she has her own interests and desires," one wrote.

"You are teaching your daughter that she can say anything she want[s], even against family, as long as it gets a laugh," another argued.

Others didn't think it was bullying unless the cousin actually saw the presentation. However, the mere fact that the presentation was made and the teenager wasn't punished irked people into thinking the dad let his daughter say whatever she wanted without suffering consequences.
